Sord of great Tipu Sultan
by H.S.K. Saheb on Dec 25, 2014 11:38 PM  | Hide replies

The very name of Tippu Sultan was bringing shiver in British army generals for his ferocious resistance and resolve to pack them back from this country.History is witness to the hobnobbing of Peshwas and the Nizams to defeat the Patriotic Tiger of Mysore. The communal bigots are erecting statues of killers of father of nation. It is nothing but shear fear of Tiger of Mysore Tipu Sultan brings shiver in the hearts of communal elements embarked up on writing a distorted history to create turmoil in the country.
Cheif Minister Mr Siddaramaiha has taken the right decision to honour one of illustrious freedom fighters who met his end with a drawn sword in the battle field Srirangapatna.People should not play politics in the name of this brave freedom fighter.

You should see Tipu Sultan from the context of how it was 230 years ago when he ruling.he wasnt a freedom fighter saving the country or anything.just like any other Hindu king of that time he was fighting for his own interests & thus he undertook expansion of his kingdom through Coastal ktka and until central Kerala in the process converting ,killing, vandalising lots of temples ,communities.
history is being distorted repeatedly by projecting him as a great ruler.

more facts
by Force Kirpan on Dec 25, 2014 11:16 PM  | Hide replies

almost all ancient temples of india bear the scars of islamic invasion ...yet they will only quote a couple of instances when nawabs granted money to few temples..

they did so to appease certain sections and keep hindus from uniting ..else they had no love nor respect for other faiths.

so many archeological sites have been razed to ground by these bigots and yet they want their acts to be appreciated

what business they had in kasi ? ..its a hindu pilgrim centre...wherever we have an ancient and important temple ..u will definitely find a mosque beside it or built over it.... if their religion doesnt preach bigotry then why would anyone commit such crimes ?

and u tell them these historical facts..they claim them as lies...maybe they will even say those temples were destroyed by hindus themselvess

RAVINDRA SITARAM
Tippu
by RAVINDRA SITARAM on Dec 25, 2014 11:00 PM

Tippu Sultan was undoubtedly a great warrior. It is also true that he patronised several temples like the Nanjundeshwara Temple of Nanjuagud, Sri Sringeri Sharada Temple among others, but he has also destroyed several temples to suit his own temperment. Fact of his forcefully converting hindus cannot be denied.

To recognise Tippu, a superfast train between Mysore and Bangalore is named after him. There were attempts to name the Bangalore International Airport after him as this is located near his birthplace, Devanahalli and to establish an university in his name was also stalled.

In my opinion, though he was a great warrior, celebrating his birth anniversary is not appropriate and the Karnataka government should immediately withdraw the proposal.

The Marathas sided with the British
by xxx yyy on Dec 25, 2014 10:58 PM  | Hide replies

Don't forget Tipu was alone many a time when he fought the British. The Marathas / Peshwas sided with the British along with the Nizam and Nawab of Arcot. So, as per history, the Marathas were not patriotic at all. If Tipu converted everybody, then how come his capital was still named Sri Rangapatna? How come his chief minister was not from his religion? How come the majority were not his religion. Why did he donate to the Nanjangud temple and Sringeri? All these are available on record. The letters are on record too.Shame on the BJP for doubting Tipu. If you have to doubt anybody, it should be the Marathas and Peshwas who sided with the British against Tipu.

by Gulpate on Dec 25, 2014 10:52 PM  | Hide replies

He was a barbarian and never fought any one except himself to keep in power. He sold his sons he doesn't know how many sons he had . Siddanna wanted to keep his name alive because of vote bank . Nourishing these anti elements will not serve the nation.

only a couple of temples in over thousands that he destroyed... good logic...we would have considered minorities..but only if they ever praised someone from mainstream religions... they seem to work for their own faith

Tipu Sultan
by GOPINATHAN ANILKUMAR on Dec 25, 2014 10:31 PM  | Hide replies

Let us have discussion and come to a consensus before making any decision on the matter. For Kerala, for instance, Tipu had been an invader. Tipu was a major aggressor of Malabar inasmuch as he gave very hard times to Pazhassi Raja, who had fought against the British valiantly.
Let us evolve a consensus in this matter (in the interest of the nation) before making any hasty decision.
