dear Friend, if Mahatma Gandhiji had wished then he would have become Prime minister or President of Bharat, none would have dared to oppose. But he refused to take any post, actually he never had any ambition of holding any post, unlike Mr. Nehru. He was a true Mahatma.As far as awarding Bharat Ratna to him is concerned, it was mistake or rather unwillingness of Govt. of that time for not doing the same. Beside Mahatma, Sardar Patel also should have been awarded the same. But not awarding the same can not belittle the status or respect that all Bharatiya has in their hearts for both of them. Actually personality of that kind is above all awards & rewards. Jai Bharat
Rediff should be on the award deciding panel. President, PM and CJI shd form a one man panel comrising of Rediff, to decide on whom to confer which award. Where was rediff all along ? Why this question now ?
There are few who are much above all these awards and we cannot match their contributions with any awards-to name few--Gandhiji,S Patel,Netaji SC Bose,Sardar Bhagat Singh,Rani Laxmi Bai,Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri....

Ashok don't include Gandhi in these list;as he is an failed leader. As Nelson Mandela succeeded to the society Mohankaramchand Gandhi could not.
Did you ever thought, why Nehru forgot Mahatma, when he awarded Bharat Ratna himself? What made you to forget this? how unbiased you are.... to ask questions to others??

If you are peeved about giving bharat ratna after death, you should have done it 1991, when Rajiv was awarded? If you have problem in number of year after death, i think you are just being hypocretic..
Now media and Congress perople questioning the Bharat Ratna to Late Pt. Malviyaji. But they shoul first answer why congress has given Bharat Ratna to Nelson Mandela & Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan? What is their contribution to Independent India?
why go so far behind when we have stalwarts just round the corner !. why not a bharat ratna for our just recent ex - honourable prime minister - shri maoun mohan singhji for his fantastic service to the gandh i dynasty. the best prime minster we have ever had in india's [ world's ] history.
these minster have made a mess out of this award. it has totally lost its purpose and importance.
targeting modi is medias bread and butter...ofcourse the money to buy this bread and butter comes from vatican and saudi ....
why not ask congress if rajiv is such a great leader that he deserved bharat ratna ? in comparison vajpayee durely does deserve and malviya ...plsss dont even talk abt him ..he was one of the greatest freedom fighter india had. both of them deserved this long ago
infact PV narasimha rao was architect of economic development of india ...he brought the reforms ..and he was the man who gave go ahead for indias nuclear bomb and conveyed the same to vajpayee ....he was a true statesman but congress deliberately used him and supressed him
