slap on face of psuedo seculars
by anand bhatia on Mar 22, 2013 11:38 PM  | Hide replies

I think this article is biggest slap on face of pseudo seculars, if they have some shame left then start working on positive and constructive politics rather than negative. I think this article should open eyes of biggest pseudo secular Mr. NITISH KUMAR who playing in the hands of congis just to stop the best person in the business to become PM. Mr. NM if you have some shame left then think beyond your state and let the country have best leader

BJP playing destructive politics in AP by supporting Nizam lovers for AP bifurcation. Does this mean BJP has no shame and hence playing negative politics in AP.

I think Col Athale has articulated it quite well. Salute him for that!!!
I support Modi's view of secularism which is we are Indians first. This is brilliant. Policitians have mastered the old british adage of divide and rule and used this to hide their crimes, corruption. Honestly what India needs is tough leader, discipline and development. 60 years on after Independence half the population still has no access to sanitation, clean water and basic needs of life. This is extremely shameful. There is a very good saying "Raja bane vyapari to Praja bane bhikhari" ie when the rulers becomes the businessman the people become beggars. This is what is happenening in India today. We really have to cleanse the political system in India and if there is one person who can do it, it is only Narendra Modi.

"Raja bane vyapari to Praja bane bhikhari" This precisely what NM did in Gujarat. So why do you want him to become PM to ruin entire India.

@khan even hypothetically if he is guilty of crime -Still he deserve to PM for all practical reasons-he is an able administrator who have guts as evident in governance and progress of Gujarat. We don't want a sober PM like MMS who hardly can take any decision independently .Lastly i respect your opinion based on your religious affiliations and constraints.

India economy made a drastic turn for good during PVN/MMS ruling period. There are not mass pullers but know how improve Indian economy. Their policies are so good, even BJP continued them during NDA ruling. NM could also improve Gujarat economy because those policies. Developing a state is entirely different from that of a nation. BJP feeds on religion and regional tensions and hence being part of BJP, NM will only destroy national integrity if become PM. So any party is far better than BJP and so the majority indians will never vote for BJP.

Incredibly spurious argument by Col Athale
by Devadatta Bhaumik on Mar 22, 2013 11:28 PM  | Hide replies

The Col. says sarcastically, "..So the criterion for a good character certificate is a US visa! " quoting from the letter in question. But he cleverly ignores the second part of the sentence which is the material point made by the writers of the letter in question, viz., "..on the ground that he, as chief minister, did nothing to prevent a series of orchestrated riots that targeted Muslims in Gujarat..'. Can a person who has been in an exalted position as an important officer of the Indian Army make these spurious and motivated argument to support a person whose action have only contributed to riots and divisive feelings in this country. How does responsible people like Col. Athale forget their duty to the nation end up supporting religious bigots? Religion makes people blind.

To match the blinds who are terrorizing, torturing raping, forcefully converting innocent people we need bigot ,if he is bigot in your view-pls look in the rural areas of West Bengel-Kerala-Bangladesh, Pakistan the activities of fanatics-Atheism and Communism did not work there.Religion is blind to those people who are lazy to know it at the deeper level .

RSS is against AP bifurcation to avoid increase in left wing extremism where BJP is supporting it for vote bank politics. Nizam lovers want AP bifurcation whereas hindu majority doesn't want the separation. Is religion blind to BJP supporters?

Mr Bhaumik, lets keep aside your convictions regarding Modi but religion was called in similar tone by Communists a long time back...

Result was Communist never could disengage people from religion and that it did survive all the communists without any problem in the birth place of communist state viz. Russia.

No religion makes people blind that includes Islam... People when they try to use religion to acquire controlling power over several others it creates the nasty effects that are seen in many riots.

Col Athalye is a retired officer and is entitled to his opinions and beliefs despite being an ex-servicemen. And you also have choice of your own opinions.

the deciding factor, when was Army called has been verified by neither him nor you.

So why dont you wait for someone to put facts together.

At least till date no Indian Court in last ten years has been able to reach conviction about Modi's role in not doing enough during the riots.

I dont think US does or does not do anything in disinterest of their national interest. They simply lack the abilities of Nehru and Gandhi for self recrimination at the moment of decisive action, in common terms referred as cowardice.

So in denying the visa it only signifies that no US interests are linked with Modi and you might just be disappointed to see same US throwing a red carpet if Modi actually becomes a prime minister.
