Ask govts. for their assistance.

Lets learn from the nature's lesson and change our attitude towards it.

This is the simple reason why our faith tells to respect 5 arms of nature -Pancha bhootam, if you play with it then face it.

Indiscriminate usage/abuse of natural resources leads to this situation where survival will get questioned. UK people shall pursue congressi govt for

1. Immediate release of compensation package for locals who lost life, property
2. Demand reduction of planned Hydro power projects on ganga atonce.
3. All illegal constructions shall be removed along the river / bed
4. Dont allow sand mafia to dig river beds for sand
5. Provide NDRF force to be stationed at Dehradun with all resources to fight emergencies

Uttarakhand: 'Silt has reached ceiling fans in homes

JAI SUNDARAM.This is not the first such calamity has happened nor is it going to be the last. What the Nation would like to know is(a) what have been the findings and recommendations of previous committees, (b) have the recommendations been implemented (c) relief materials must have been stocked at various strategic posts along with suitable staff.Inspite of all these (if they have been done)why should a packet of biscuits costing Rs 5/- cost Rs 200/- or a bottle of water cost Rs 100/-a bottle. What we are doing now is BREAK DOWN MAINTENANCE where as PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE COULD HAVE DEFINITELY SAVED THE SITUATION to some extent. Will we as common men ever see the Inquiry report, findings and will they pinpoint responsibility. There must have lot of SOPs(Standing Operating Procedures) outlining various adverse situations likely to happen, estimation of causalities, evacuation plan, food & shelter, hygiene and sanitation problems.Strong action is to be taken on the defaulters with exemplary punishments. What ever action has been taken should trickle down to the last man and a shiver should go down anybody's spine if they do not perform their duty properly.Give them freedom, responsibility and make them fully accountable.Action as of now (a) identify the number yet to be evacuated,(b) provide food, shelter and communication (c) regular visits by leaders (the leaders should not look for their perquisites & priest-age).The situation can still be saved.Veteran Dr(Brig)Maremanda J

indian mentality to their fellow indians stands totally exposed, yet again. Also stand exposed is the defunct state and centre government. I do not know how many enjoyed the hot discussion between One Congress MLA and CM Bahuguna in which, the MLA is accusing the CM of he being threatened when he sought help for the stranded pilgrims.

I had been to Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun and the nearby pilgrim centres attached to these areas. Its just pathetic and the local administration is totally callous to address the people's basic need. Even the people/Tourist have to be blamed for their attitude. If proper safety measures are not taken atleast now, more such nature fury is waiting to happen.

I really appreciate your concern about fellow Indians as a true Indian. But no one can help in this because it is a disaster caused by nature. No meteorology can do anything.Let us all ,from other states give a helping hand to the needy people urgently initiated by central govt.

Uttarakhand fury

I have sympathy for the pilgrims but not for the people who lost their house as the house were built with no approvals form Environment or municipal corptn and I am sure they had bought it by under table payment to officials that is the reason why they encroached to almost on the river surface itself.
Atleast now the Uttarakhand GOvt should get alert and stop all building constructions in the hills. Same for Himachal Govt. And mind you all a big earthquake of almost 8 on richtor scale is expected any day any time in near future in Himalayas. Be ready for that.

Free himalayas from religious hold
by Satyam Reporter on Jun 21, 2013 05:20 PM  | Hide replies

We require himalayas as a tourist center and not for religion.

This is the root cause of massive death toll.
People visits himalayas with religious myths during odd weather and perish
