I am wondering why person from india is hired for domestic help. Is it not possible to take locals eventhough costlier instead of landing into troublr.
All in all, it is clear that there is trouble for maids over wages . Indian Govt shall pay the domestic help as per the laws of the country where the diplomat is posted. It shall not be left to the diplomats to pay wages to the maids/ domestic help. They are all cheats. If the Indian govt pays less to its diplomats and they can not afford to pay correct sums to the maids, they shall not have maids else govt to take care of it as part of the perks. It shall not be left to the descreation of the diplomat to pay the wages to avoid any such problems in future.
this episode has brought scorn on the Indian Official conduct overseas.While the deputy consul has been dealt with harshly & the humiliation could have been avoided, India must make public the entire sordid story comprehensively.People need to know just how much it costs the tax payers to employ our Missions, Embassies, Salaries , perks, allowances paid as well as what it costs to provide domestic servants to these so called diplomats out of public exchequer.Peope also need to know what is the income tax paid by all these officials/diplomats in detail.This diplomat is stated to have acquired an apartment in the ADARSH building, and has also got another apartment somewhere in Andheri....all these truths ought to become public too.Just how does a domestic servant get an Official Passport issued...all this is rather awkward & difficult to swallow !
