US will never stop giving a false impression that it is the protector of human rights. Please US, the entire world see through your mask.
As usual Indian media and govt will react...I salute US for protecting Sangita Richard. In my view Sangita Richard's family should seek asylum in US and become citizens of US.
Is this the first time that US has behaved like a bully? Is it news that maids taken from India are ill-treated abroad? India should insist on US apology and also take action against our diplomat for exploiting the maid.
This simply is not acceptable to most people in those countries. A labor dispute, you cannot go in and haul the family like this.
"Meanwhile, her husband and child in India were taken into custody, according to the witness. A scared Richard spoke with them, and refused to leave the attorney's office premises."

I agree. If the fact that the maid's family was arrested is true, then this is an injustice of the highest order. I am not however surprised that the immature media does not publicise this. The consulate officer family is well connected and therefore the elitist treatment. Modern slavery in a way.
They should avoid taking Indian domestic help in labour laws sensitive counties and work by themselves to avoid such problems in future. Self reliance is the key, rather than maid culture.

right! if one cannot not afford to pay a decent wages, he should not engage such help! it is a universal truth in India or abroad!
western europe discarded such fuedal traditions and adopted dignity for labour, hardwork and thrift and tranformed into a society with protestant ethics!
Europe dominated the world in the next 4 centuries!
