What's wrong
by Nanekar AMBADAS on Aug 23, 2013 05:39 PM  | Hide replies

I always felt Mumbai is the safest place for women and used to tell my friends down South that at Mumbai ladies can return safely at midnight after completing their duties. All of us have to introspect. Rapists should be dealt severely in a fasttrack court. If there are no Judiciary available, eminent persons should be formed into a council and given judicial powers for such cases.

I KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH INDIA

In India, men do not have rights, but only duties. Women have only rights but no duty obligations. Treat men and women both equal, and everything will be fine.

THIS IS THE SOLUTION; I KNOW.

dear sathiya,
IT APPEARS THAT U R HAVING SOME WRONG NOTIONS. IT IS EXACTLY REVERSE OF WHAT U TRY TO NARRATE. INDIAN FEMALES HAVE ONLY DUTIES AND DUTIES WITH LITTLE RIGHTS. EVEN THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO EXPRESS THEIR VIEWS FOR WHAT THAT HAPPENS AROUND THEM. IN EACH AND EVERY RAPE CASE RIGHT FROM POLICE TO MEDIA TRIES TO FIND OUT SOME EXCUSE OR FAULT WITH FEMALES. THEY COMMENT ON THEIR DRESSING SENSE AND TRIES TO PREACH THEM ABOUT THE CULTURAL BACK GROUND OF THE COUNTRY AND ON THE OTHER HAND THEY KEEP MUM ON THE BLOOD HOUND AND ERRAND BULL TYPES MALES IN THE SOCIETY. OUR JUDICIARY IS ALSO OLD JUST LIKE RIP VAN WINKLE ERA THAT THEY TOOK YEARS TOGETHER TO DELIVER THE JUSTICE AND ADVOCATES MAKES MOKERY OF JUSTICE. WHERE ALL THIS WILL END AND IN ACTUAL REALITY THE FEMALES OF COUNTRY WILL FEEL SAFE ????????

welcome to reality. IPC 498A dowry law recorded 98% fake cases against men. Womans rights. Domestic violence video footages have shown that men too can be victims. divorce laws half property gone enough said. I agree with Sathya. Proper implementation of law ie protect innocent punish guilty

Tomorrow It could be me
by Dhiru Mistry on Aug 23, 2013 04:59 PM

First it was Dr.Dabholker tomorrow it could be me.Yesterday it was Nirbhaya today it is jaournalist. The writer's outbursts are understndable. Ours is the largest democratic country and we take pride for it but then when such incidents happen the faith in democracy looses its ground. But then democracy is the only form of government that can bring results.Whatever happens its most unfortunate but then we all must resolve that the sacrifice of Nirbhaya and Dr.Dabholker will not go in vain.

Flawed Democracy!!!

I am afraid there is no simple answer to your question Sister.

There isn't just one reason for the state of our country is in, at the moment, socially and economically.

Whom and what can you blame? The most complicated and longest Constitution in the World, written just after independence, which is little relevant to the current climate and has more holes and gaps than what we find in our Roads?

The ever so corrupt politicians who rape our countries wealth, sovereignty term after term and are little bothered about its beautiful daughters being brutally attacked in the so called Cosmopolitan cities?

In the name of prospects and economic growth the youth of this country working their arse of for Corporation (National or International) and are so obsessed only with the shallow entertainment culture of the West but completely fail to acknowledge the many good characteristics i.e. Being considerate, Being polite, Being respectful to your fellow citizens. But just stuck in the rat race forgetting the countries real growth is a socio-economic growth and not just a big bank balance?

Desperation? Domination? Power? I cant complete the list...

I guess to an extent we all have become too complacent just by singing praise of how good our country is and how great our civilization has been. But failing to notice the ruins its running into.

Am afraid I will have to join with you in search for a solution rather than a answer.

Painfully,

Fellow Indian

my first word is Bloody Democracy people think they can do any thing and escape with must pass a law shoot order at site even if wrong people are shot no problem just catch them and shoot then fear will arise and less will happen day by day within no time it will vanish if i want to do any thing wrong my mind says so Then married and there do with wife. if the person so want to enjoy a women let him marry 1 women and enjoy her much as he wants in lawful way ( my wife always prayed for a Girl or a boy no problem. but after reading and hearing from the surrounding she says thank God i don't want a girl child she fears even if we are true cant live Y THIS FEAR IN PEOPLE. my Grand dad used to say those days people used to fear only for animals and reptiles but today fear is MAN 2 MAN WHY! Govt. must pass shoot order or hang to death terrorist is ok meaning Govt. is taking stands to stop it but what about things like this rape and other assaulting & others what about that no answer we must have a all India Strike for this each road should be checked and people should be paid to work for the safety in India like police man and others securities and must appoint a trust-able Cops and other. if i find all the person who did it i will make them stand and shoot them i fee like that but i cant take the law in my hand so Govt. should work on this how to eradicate it.

You are right. This happens because there is no FEAR of comitting crime as there is no fear of Police, the Law and even the general male public around. The Public remains a mute spectator watching is a Tamasha. Why does such cases not occur in Gulf Countries. The answer is FEAR of severe punishment that is lacking in India.

Rapes
by arungopal agarwal on Aug 23, 2013 03:29 PM

To day we have sufficient law to tackle the issue, rather one sided where males are to suffer whether actually convict or not.In a vast country of 125 crore, how there can be totally crime free, it appears-our politicians, media and other agencies to do not have any work except to paint India as rapist country.

by Vijay Chauhan on Aug 23, 2013 03:28 PM

Why shouldn't there be a law to fasttrack such cases and then castrate (chemically or physically) the rapist/s, besides the routine punishment in the form of imprisonment, to help save the dignity of other women from these anti-socials, after they come out!
