Juvenile Crime
by Shivkumar Dalvi on Sep 01, 2013 08:26 PM

The seriousness of the crime n not the biological age of the criminal should be taken into account.Ours is a very soft nation.
During these times especially hard-core terrorists should not receive too many human rights in the form of appeals to higher courts,President etc.Indian law is too lax n lenient towards serial offenders. These are the people who are not going to reform with any leniency. In fact in jail they usually plot further revenge moves.Indian law should not bind itself into knots trying to be lenient taking into account the fact that harsh , strict n fast punishments is the only deterrent towards reducing crime. When criminals are sure that they will get a reprieve in the form of mild n delayed punishments they are emboldened to commit such heinous crimes.Time has come when few border-line innocent people need to be punished so that fear of law is instilled in the mind of such offenders.

It is unfortunate that this judgement is criminal friendly and against the victim. Further, such a low sentence may send wrong signals to other juveniles.

If I am not wrong, our laws works in the interest of individuals and USA works in the interest of society.

If our laws are useless to give the real justice then why the Laws are changed. What Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Sushil Kumar Shinde are doing. When the whole India was errupted on this case, they all said, 'we will see that the strict and fast punishment is give to the culprits. Is this a strict punishment?

rape

I don't blame the law. We have to bring awareness among the children, adult, and umemployed. Many think rape is not a crime.
Put up poster everywhere rape is a crime and will get severe punishment.Put up poster to public place, school, college, bus stop. railway station parliament, worshing place every nook and corner.Awareness is the important factor.

Juvenile rapist and co-conspirator to murder.
by W Farnando on Sep 01, 2013 11:55 AM  | Hide replies

This is the most atrocious judgement that any court in the world could ever believed. Here is a juvenile who raped her twice enticed her to get on board the bus and push that rod that ultimately destroyed her intestines. If some cockeyed human riht socialist thinks that this guy will get reformed in our reforms schools this is wishful thinking. Beside a criminal must be punish for the heinousness of the crime and not based of his age. What a don Quixotic theory. Why is the women and child welfare association not taking this up strongly despite India having a woman congress president? If this happened in US he would have got 1000 years jail term.

Yes. It is disappointing judgement. If such sentences are continued, tomorrow, people may take the law into their hands and pronounce instant punishment to the culprits.
