Rape
by arungopal agarwal on Apr 26, 2013 10:13 AM  | Hide replies

It is a mental disease and of two types, brutal-people have seen-only punishment is hanging for beasts. IInd is natural out of mental control-for which pre-caution is required by society, individuals-somehow our judicial system is considering both at par, which is a blot on judicial system.

Kavita Krishnan on rape in India

Patriarchal society just cannot be the cause of heinous crimes of rape/murder as we are increasingly seeing happen in recent time. The patriarchal society always existed in India, and there was purity in society. The fear of severe, lifelong punishment, apart from revenge by the victim`s people and the spontaneous natural anger of every member of the society were so strong that rapes were extremely low. Today`s courts try to give "justice" to the rapist because of their effeminate and impotent mindset, that does its best to save the criminal from severe punishment. If only our judges follow the law in its spirit, they will not hesitate to give severemost punishments for rape. The should actually follow the laws in the Holy Bible, which alone do justice to the victims and mandate punishment to the criminals. Unless and until that happens, rape in India will continue unabated.

I agree with you.Our Govt also several times makes great blunders to misuse the Rape concept as stated by Indian Law just as one more of their appeasing policy (To appease these Women Right Bodies and their modernise outlooks)

Some suggestions
by Ram Sharma on Apr 25, 2013 09:39 PM  | Hide replies

There r many reasons behind increased incidents of rape, incl psychological. Moral values of society hv gone down. I suggest that there shd b prohibition all over the country. Most rapes & many other crimes / accidents occur under the influence of alcohol. Moreover now-a-days girls hv started wearing dresses with more and more exposure of body, and very tight dresses. This shd b discontinued. What is its need? Vulgar scenes (item songs by main heroins etc) shd b banned in films. Rapists shd also b punished without delay. It is unfortunate that even after 5 months, the rapists of Daminni in Delhi hv not yet bn punished

there is more exposure in the europe..but there are far less rapes there than in India. The problem is because of mindsets like yours which harpes on "controlling" man-woman relation. More tha the patriarchial nature of the society, its the dedaly combination of patriarchial system AND control freak morality imposed by the society that contribute t such incessant incidents of rape.

Obscene shows and nudity in TV channels as we view is one of the prime reason for having psychological effects in young minds a lot and increasing sex crimes in India in a decade or so..Its not just good thing to just blame patriarchal social systems but too much ultra modern trends..

Patriarchy - so no remedy
by Rangan Majumdar on Apr 25, 2013 08:21 PM  | Hide replies

Patriarchy starts from our mantras to religious practices to societal customs to everything else. So preventing rapes is a thousand year project? The whole tenor of anti-rape debate by women is to blame the whole menfolk, not just the offenders. They want to turn it into a power game. What is the experience when women are in power? What is common about Indira Gandhi, Jayalalitha, Mamata, Mayawati, etc? They are all megalomaniacs, unpredictable, temperamental and insensitive.
