OK to Cancel Phd Degrees of MMS ?

UPA2 destr0yed India's "growth" story

India wont happen till S0nia leaves.
Lets examine India success under PVN Rao, under NDA, and now collapsed under UPA.

1990s: PVN Rao did gr8. But MMS- technocrat: stopped our social sector & education: led 2 uproars.

But, Indians energies got expressed, eg, Infosys & honest businessmen. Also 1000s of SMEs, manufacturers, boomed.
It was NOT MMS! he gave 100 CR to RajivFoundation!

India's boom, therefore, was selfMADE, not FDI.
India didNOT use FDI: not like China.

Now S0niazIndia gets foreignDrugsTerroristicBlack monies, playing havoc with us. All-knowing MMS cleverly plays quiet.

2000s: 2nd boom under Vajpayee: India truly flowered (except farm sector: debts andSuicides. Vajpayee made RiverInterLinking project, to fix this).

But S0nia trashed the project: so farmer debts andSuicides escalated by lakhs.

S0nia created NREGA: massive L00ts here; not one SINGLE ASSET!

NREGA cash fills C0NGpockets, by socking you and me, via multiple taxes, high fuel-food-electricity-water-gas.

We donot need FDI, as huge capital hoarded up by S0niazMen, RIGHT-WINGers.

Clean businessmen scared of S0nia: Rush to Gujarat, MP, South.

Income tax officers openly speak of nests of, like, 30-50 crore! GovtOfficersL00ters want share: so businesses shut down.

MMS has noHonesty norWill, to correct India.
But good in CRUEL decisions like FDI: slave to West.

............. they want to take india down with them. the smart people of india won't let that happen. just say a big "no" to retail-monopolies like walmart. if mamta ever was right, this one is it. thanks didi for standing firm for indian people. and of course, thanks modi ji for spelling it out correctly and wonderfully articulating the stakes for the indian people vis-a-vis the retail-monopolies like walamrt which are wrong for india.

Retail has to be more organised and this has to happen, if Indian companies cannot do it, foreigners will do it. If we don't want FDI, then government should ask big industrial houses to enter in retail.

Not that i am a fan of the congis, but BJP which is a party run by businessmen and banias are talking about opposing everything they themselves should stand for. FDI is good. Period !! Who is the BJP or the CPI or any other party to tell me where i should go and purchase my goods. They opposed investment in almost all sectors before Indians know what quality was. Today most Indians have access to better financial services, and better quality products as opposed to the earlier generations who lived life like in a regulated socialist society. It is time we did away with subsidies and paid for what we used. This way their vote bank politics will come to an end.

you are missing a vital point. fdi in monopolies like walmart is being opposed here, not in other sectors of business. in usa a lot of small businesses have closed down because of walmart. city halls of many towns in usa won't allow walmart to enter. eg, you won't see walmart in the new york city, the biggest city in usa. the food quality in new york city is one of the best, service by retailers exceptional. the small retailers deliver groceries to apartments in new york just like in many towns in india. the problem with new york city are one of very high taxes which drives the cost up, something the socialist india has too but must avoid.
the people of india have to hold their govt resposnisble. this should be quite easy given that cm modi has more than proven that it is easily achievable. modi is as business friendly a cm as you going to see, and he is opposed to walmart monpolies. that should tell you something.

Tell what you're saying about Walmart to our b school geniuses who believe that fdi is the cure for all our ills. For days the business papers have been writing about "reforms" like fdi. I think you have to experience the likes of walmart first-hand to know what their quality is like.

walmart is _not_ really known in usa for quality. walmart is known for the cheap chinese imports (of "reasonable" quality) for the poor to middle class america. china's prosperity is mainly attributed to walmart.
also, walmart was recently indicted for bribing govt officials in mexico, which is a serious offence against the law in usa. mexico is corrupt but not nearly as india is. which tells me the indian politicians in congress party have been bribed by walmart. vast majority of walmart employees make close to minimum wage. these are well known and easily verifiable facts in usa. it is surprising b school grads in india are unaware of it. also, hillary clinton is used to be on the board of directors of arkansas based walmart when her husband was governor of arkansas; she is very close to walmart families, and therefore it is no surprise she is pushing walmart on india..

How many people cried hoarse and there were talks about MASS UNEMPLOYMENT when computerization started in real earnest from the mid 1980s onwards? And look where India is today and how many millions of jobs have been created by the Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL and other companies and right down to the neighborhood cyber cafe!

Dont create the bogey of big retail chains snatching away Jobs and creating monopolies. Even Vodafone is in India. Has it wiped out Reliance, Idea or Bharti? But competition amongst these giants bought down the cost of mobile telephony from Rs 32per minute to 25-30paise per minute. A 3 minute call on the cellphone costs 90paise against Rs 1 from a BSNL payphone!

The entry of big corporates into retail will be beneficial for all in the long run. In the current scenario, the farmers & agriculturists make a pittance whereas commission agents & the merchant community earns huge margins and indulge in FOOD ADULTERATION, hoarding & loan sharking.

Agricultural cooperatives could be formed to encourage collective farming, take benefits of subsidized loans/farm credit, scientific inputs to increase yield and help in reducing wastage through better storage & pest control facilities. Already the Future group, Birlas, Reliance, etc have entered retail. What is the harm if international giants like Walmart or Woolworth or Spinneys or Carrefour enter India?

The entry of these retail giants will increase job opportunities and give a boost to the logistics, food processing, agriculture and other related sectors. Most importantly Indian consumers will be spared the dangers of FOOD ADULTERATION which is rampant amongst the Kirana shops and Mandis and other wholesale agent's level.

The Indian retail chains and Indian brands will also give the MNC ones, a run for their money. How did Amul & Mother Dairy succeed? Do we not see their products on mall shelves in India? Did Venkys or Suguna wipe out the domestic poultry industry? Did ITC or Postman or Wipro wipe out the cooking oil sector. Did the entry of Mc Donalds or Pizza Hut or KFC or Subway lead to closure of all Indian hotels? Vested interests are raising these bogies. All of these names ensured that UNADULTERATED and HYGIENIC products were made available to the Indian consumer. Does anyone buy loose milk or cooking oil in the cities today?

The Bania/kirana wallah/dalal lobby is too strong. Have you seen the way our mandis & commodity markets work? There are huge CARTELS at work. Vegetable prices regularly skyrocket while poor farmers dump their produce on the roads! Farmers wait for days in the open in their bullock carts or tractors with their perishable produce. Grains and foodstuff rot due to archaic storage facilities and heavy RODENT & PEST. How many food processing & other value adding industries are of help to our farmers?

Has anyone spared a thought for the employees working long hours for paltry pay at the kirana shops? Would anyone look into the tax returns of the kirana/grocery shop owners and traders? I am certain there will be minimal records or more likely there will be multiple records, one for balack money dealings and one for the tax department

Could one to check the price of onions or grain in any grocery shop and then and what the farmer in Nasik or Punjab receives for his product. If it is five times, who makes all the profit? One can look at the despised a Walmart's balance sheet and compare with the net profit margin on their sales. I am sure this is a public record, unlike that of the banias, vyaparis and dalals in Indian villages and cities.

No one is claiming that the foreign retailers are angels. They are in it for the profit just like the grocer or grain merchant is or like the Indian retail chains are. And these chains will also ensure higher tax revenue collection for the governments.

Let us all go for what benefits the consumer and the farmer.

Whether an Indian STABS me or an American SHOOTS me, the end result is that I die! You expect me to show PATRIOTISM and allow only INDIAN companies & businesses to LOOT me?

INEFFICIENT businesses will keep crying WOLF and play politics

you are not very bright jai babu, for you are incapable of seeing the big picture. most farmers of punjab and gujarat are doing great despite the stories of a few having fared poorly due to exceptional drought, for they have smart govts. farming is inherently a risky business due to the vagaries of weather, and hence the govt and insurance companies must be set up right to provide the cushion against such blows. monopolies like walmart are never an answer, for that solution is worse than the problem. it is crazy you think there are cartels at play in india whom you blame in the same breath you advocate ruthless monopolies like walmart. there is only one agency responsible for farmers' plight : the freeloaders gandhis who loot away nation's resources which otherwise could be put to good use. be smart and join the club to get rid of the e.v.m. , the congressi fraudulent path to power which binds india to poverty. join the modi club to put our farmer on top.
btw, what the_heck you mean by adulterated food? mixed vegetables are not an adulterated food, fyi.

Which world do you live in Shilpy? A frog's well, I presume?

What gave you the idea that Walmart is a monopoly?? It faces stiff competition from other chains like Teseco, Carrefour, Spinneys, Woolworth, etc. In the Gulf region, Indian owned chains like Lulu, Jashanmal. etc are thriving even though other MNC chains have stores there. Do you think the Birlas, Future group or Reliance will be unable to compete on their home turf? Even the Sahara group is planning to open multiple stores.

I shed no teears for the dalas/middlemen & wholesale merchants who have been absolutely mercenary in dealing with farmers & agriculturists. The entry of Indian & foreign retail chains will make the inward supply chain & procurement processes more efficient & streamlined by cutting down excess intermediaries who are parasites on the farmers & agriculturists.Yes, the typical bania/kirana/grocery stores will face hard times. They will have to reinvent themselves by providing valued added services or providing small credit facilities. Did not mobile telephony call rates coming down affect so many STD/ISD communication booths & centers set up by small entrepreneurs? But did the end user/consumer not benefit? The STD booths reinvented themselves by metamorphosing into cyber cafes, gaming parlours, mobile recharge coupon outlets, etc. Would any of us have had it any other way?

Let us all go for what benefits the consumer and the farmers & agriculturists.

This will lead to the monopoly of multinationals and the farmers will be forced to sell their goods at the price decided by the MNCs. Take the case of any goods handled by MNCs like colas, medicines. they are produced at a very low coast and sold at a high margin, this will be the same case if the MNCS Agricultural goods. Farmers slowly experience their monopoly and finally consumers too. We are having good models like co-operative movements connecting consumers and producers for eg. Amul. We are blaming the retailers for a complete system failure. Just think of introducing some one from outside in the politics as a solution for the current political corruptions? Will the UPA government agree with it? Instead of trusting our people the government is trusting the foreign companies. Why government is not making any effort to make the guide lines and monitor in the market. If things ar like this India will be again under the rule of foreigners.
