The Indian Public have the right to ask for quality goods for the cash they pay and FDI would ensure it. But BJP being hand in glove league with many Indian Manufacturers who give Quality the go-by, always go against the Indian Public.

how FDI will effect indians or small investors
by individual on Sep 16, 2012 10:58 AM  | Hide replies

earlier investors(mall, mnc etc) were having share with local or govt as partner with restrictions!

foreign direct investment means 100% foreign control, no local or govt partner! these FDI(CAREFOUR, WALLMART etc)will give competition to local malls and certainly price will be brought down!

initially for 2-3 years, there will be no problem and no problem for small investors, they will carry out their business as they were doing as they r surving now also due to consumers convinience!

but problem will start slowly when numbers of FDI will increase as they r not binding to buy local vegetables or food items, they can import partial or all commodities from foreign! prices will be further brought down! now the slow poisioning started! local mall, vegetables shop owners etc will get a tough competition as almost all middle class will turn to foreign commodities!

our infrastructure will break down, our farmers, retail outlet will be binding to sell materials at cheap prices, they will make loss and slowly they will vanish!

FDI will capture whole market and now, farmers, retailers r at the mercy of them, they can hike the prices that time and as they capture the infrastructure, they can make us enslave now!

when our own infrastructure will break down, we will be morally enslaved as we r dependant on foreign materials and our daily use materials r coming from foreign,we will loose our self respect!

thats the fear!but common people want now to get rid ofHotPrice

actually, i expected BJP to come out with explanation like this, why FDI to be protested and how it will effect us but without directing the right way, they r telling different thing in which common people r not understanding that how they will get effected and thinking that, being opposition, BJP is just protesting as they r not guiding the people in right reason! so, i have told, BJPs intention is correct but common people need to understand , why they shud protest and how FDI will effect small investors, mall etc in long run!

Incredible fear mongering by BJP and others. You are sitting in an open market scenario where you need to compete. Why are you afraid of competition. Indians need to learn to compete - what has happened here is that people with protected by hundreds of quota reservations get into panic mode when they are told to compete. And big Indian retailers (BigBazaar, ShopperTocs) they will sit without gloves? Are they? They will not compete? They ARE the one who wanted FDI. Infact we want FDI in many sectors to boost our infrastructure and industry. How long will you guys be afraid of competition? Grow out of this fear psychie and start thinking of competing guys.

And this is only the marketing sector, and I am not seeing anything happen to the power and sciences. We need our FDI in engineering and science schools. Bring in FDI now, and let us compete.

Yes - but that is what I am trying to tell you. All these will happen unless govt puts protective measure in place - that will give good cost to farmers. And taking the control out of govt's hands is exactly the idea - for so many years what has the govt exactly done? And what infrastructure is there that can be taken out? I dont understand. If anything FDI is a must required step. Retail is a bit fuzzy, but we NEED FDI.
You ARE a BJP goon who is not judging in a neutral manner.

I am totally against Hindutva and such fascist ideas. Anyway, policies are always formulated with interests in mind and I see FDI as a must-do step in the long run. How many Indians go out of the country to do well abroad - Indians have done very well when they have gone abroad (in acedemics industry and finance). So why do we not need foreign investment here again? We do need FDI and less the govt interferes the better. Govt can do nothing and that has been proved in 65 years of political hungama. HindutvaCangrezAndLeftFront. Basic thing - you want to understand Indian needs you have to move out of party politics.

Anyway both Congress and BJP have good competent people who can do well. But they are all sucked into that political machine that has gone beyond all redemption.

Dirty politics by BJP

BJP-NDA had mooted 100% FDI in retail in 2002-TOI
Murasoli Maran, commerce & industry minister during the NDA regime, had moved a note for the group of ministers, proposing that the government allow 100% foreign direct investment in retail trade.

BJP is very short sighted........
by Pushp Shah on Sep 16, 2012 10:56 AM

This is an irresponsible comment, saying Indian boys & girls will end up being sales people only.

FDI provides opportunities for people to improve their lives by getting jobs, etc

Has BJP or Congress done anything special in all these years, such as sufficient job creations by Indian companies ? If not then we are lucky that the world is investing in India, thus providing our people more job options all all levels.

Isn't it good for India ?
