FDI is what will bring the bania sector under tax net as the local kiranas transact in cash without receipts so that will generate revenue here and the eliminatiion of dalaals in the food chain will decrease prices. Also the cold storage technology will increase longevity of food items thereby reducing wastage. BJP has every reason to worry. But a commendable decision.

Ashok Gulati, Director-in-Asia, The International Food Policy Research Institute, said, "There is a mystery a bit of it but that is also a way that Gujarat can show to the rest of the country that agriculture is not a 2% growth, it can be 12% growth story per annum

Labour minister Mallikarjun Kharge told Rajya Sabha that in the three years -- from 2007 to 2009 -- Gujarat had managed to place 1,78,000, 2,17,000 and 1,53,000 workers, respectively, through employment exchanges.
None of the states were in the striking distance. The second best, however, was Maharashtra that had managed to place nearly 8,000 in 2007; 11,000 in 2008 and 24,000 in 2009. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh were among other states in that order that had made some contribution along with Maharashtra.
This also reflects in Gujarat per capita income, at $833 it is higher than the national average of $627 as per the 2005-06 data. In the past few years, the state has significantly added its manufacturing capability which alone accounts for highest employment.

5.At least 50 per cent of total FDI brought in shall be invested in ‘back-end infrastructure’ within three years of the induction of FDI, where ‘back-end infrastructure’ will include capital expenditure on all activities, excluding that on front-end units. For instance, back-end infrastructure will include investment made towards processing, manufacturing, distribution, design improvement, quality control, packaging, logistics, storage, ware-house, agriculture market produce infrastructure etc. Expenditure on land cost and rentals, if any, will not be counted for purposes of backend infrastructure.
6.A high-level group under the Minister of Consumer Affairs may be constituted to examine various issues concerning internal trade and make recommendations for internal trade reforms.
Sales boys and girls are not beggers. They work hard and earn their money. So to call a profession as low level is the cheap mentality that BJP promotes.

Sensible people will understand that Jaitly not degrading sales boys and girls but you will be pushed to that condition and all mfg/servicing/processing will be done by outsiders creating more jobs for them and marketed in India by Indians and profits taken to other country by foreigners looting us and not used in our land

Indeed he is by this disparaging comment. The BJP only wants the bania class to hold a monopoly in the retail sector.
