You can't blame the politicians. It is the people voting them to power who have to take the entire blame.

All said and done, Indian parents are to be blamed. They don't tech their children good values. They only demand that children cram for entrance examinations to AIIMS, the IITs, the IIMs, etc.

Jai Hind!

The wisconsin shooting was truly an unfortunate event on the mostly peaceful Siikhs.

But what is more unfortunate is on the one hand you have some poolitical outfit(Akali dal) in the state of punjab "trying to show solidarity" and organizing protests to their own people or so they think...

On the other hand you ve got our own NR I, U.S citizens with Indian natinality showing them little regard to whatever protest they are doing and like aiir heads completely disowning them.

So the question is should India really bother abput what is happening to our migrnt ppl if they have opted for a different nationality?

ROFLatyou, lets forget for the moment about what NRIs or PIOs think about folks back home.

I think the question at hand is what should people here in India do about innocents killed in US? Express Sympathies? Yes. Condemn the attack? Yes. But protest and burn the flags? No way. This is not a state sponsored attack, it is attack by some madman and he is dead anyways.
In any case, the crime has happened in US soil and there is precious little India can do except hope that justice prevails. If such attacks become common place, then perhaps Indian Govt can issue travel advisories (which people will ignore in any case)

US versus India
by Jef Costello on Aug 08, 2012 09:21 PM  | Hide replies

In the US, the guilty are punished. How are things in India?

In the US human life is valued. How are things in India? Does anyone in India even remeber the Sikhs from November 1984? The Hindu refugees from Kashmir? The Muslim refugees from Bhagalpur?

India, come to your senses. Come to your senses, now! Else one day you'll wake up and see that it is too late!

BTW, Lt. Murphy is alive. Alive, but fighting for his life in a hospital.

I am Indian. Ciao.

Hey Jef,

Let me ask you something straight here. Are you REALLY sure that human life is valued in US. As i have quite a few friends who follow Sikhism , let me emphasize on certain things here. Looks like you are trying to be smart (which i can accept as you are quite good at manipulating things). Lets face it, which country hasn't got issues on this earth (be a man and bold if you can). Lets face it, how many people in India would bother to know about someone Mr. Murphy, and try to know if someone with that name is actually alive or not.l If he is your hero, then let it be, we haven't got enough time to think about Mr. Murphy or Mr.Smith or even Mr. Costello). Why should we bother about someone whom we don't know in the first place?

Thanks to identify you as an Indian, If you haven't got anything positive about your country, how could you actually claim that you are an Indian? What have you done for our country so far apart from being born for your parents' mistake?

My parents are quite happy with me. They have also taught me to tell right from wrong.

Unfortunately, most Indian parents fail to teach their children to tell the right from the wrong. Else, why would the guilty go unpunished in India?

Just yelling "Jai Hind" or "I am Anna" won't save India from the dire straits the country is in.

Jef

I wish you were correct in this regard. Lets face it, you have every right to complain about the Indian judicial system, but you can't blame the whole Indian society for all the evils in this society, But we as a country could do more it than expecting something like "Jain hind" or "I am Anna" to start with. Could you just think about what your contributions are in this regard, against corruption. Are we not man enough to take this fight to the next level, why do we need a Anna Hajare or someone else to fight against corruption for us? Can't we have some self-conscience in this regard. What kind of satisfaction should we get from blaming our political system or corrupted system in this regard?

Regarding our parents, don't we really admire them for all their hard work in bringing us to this society? Why blame the Parents in this issue. I am extremely sorry to be harsh on my previous comment, but with total respect to our parents all that i could say that we have the power to change the destiny of our next generation and lets try to use these forums to educate them lot rather than being negative about current stuff. Hope you agree with me in this regard.

Does any one remember about how the help went out for Katrina victims. There was partiality in rescue operations, racisim and every evil thing was put to use specifically in Alabama.

Jef, since you say you are Indian, I think you know as well as I do.
The commonality between both countries is freedom of expression, guarantee of equal rights to all. So, on the surface and statistically speaking, yes, the guilty are punished in India.
But the similarity ends there, thanks to Govt Apathy, corruption, indifference and at times selective justice by vested interests.
