General Vijay Kumar Singh PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC is the 24th Indian General of the Indian Army and currently the Chief of Army Staff. He is the first trained commando to become Army General and was also the first serving Indian military chief to take the Government to court
author even doesn't know that "air defense" is a part of army not air force...that shows his knowledge about the subject... now a days , it has become a trend to write about Army without knowing how it functions.....
Indian Express is another example.... responsible journalism is the need of hour....writer may have command over many subjects but if he doesn't know about army that he should avoid to write about it....let someone more qualified to do this...
India need to arm against China and may be we cultivate Israel and Japan in a geopolitical realignment because we need to guard against the machinations of China and Pakistan more.
Who monetarily benefits from Defence Procurement and deals is the biggest question to be answered and rest angles of discussion is merely a wastage of time.
Mr Dasgupta has raised a lot of questions on the armys requirements like how many tanks it needs, how has the figure of 97% obsolesence in air defence worked out. Obviously he does not have adequate knowledge on the army's structure or current weapon holdings and its vintage. Dont we all know that there are a certin numbers of armoured divisons/ brigades/ regiments and the number of tanks they have. Does he mean they are more than required? We all know that successive governments after independence have paid lip service to the army's requirements and the bureaucracy has been outright hostile. This bogey of troops moving to delhi is also a creation of the same civil servants.
We are dragging the age of the Chief as all evil in everything related to defence. Keeping aside the age, the Nation should introspect the state of defence of India. The threat perspective has undegone change politically and militarily. China has emerged as a powerful nation and is dictating terms. Nepal is leaning towards China, Bangladesh is a potential adversary, Sri Lanka is wary of Tamil politics and Pakisthan interest does go go India's way. Defence is not a game of words and military strength goes a long way in making the Nation politically strong. India, like China should start making their own defence equipments with proper R&D and make the country self sufficient in procurement of defence items from within.
rely on our warfighters ability to thrsh out the problem albeit civil-political class is proving dangerous for india. Once a good leadership like CM?PMs emerge, things will fall in place.

You deserve a kick in a strategic region of your anatomy. Except that from the rambling way in which you have written, I doubt whether you have anything there that can suffer any damage!
In India only Middle men are making money neither the producer nor the buyer/user.every thing we Indians buy comes throuh so many middle men. They are exploiting the market for their benifits. Many persons who are purchasing heads in the organisations , float some companies and start getting supplies throuh these companies and poket money , they are neither producer nor user but they fill tenders and get orders by whook or crook/bribing and make money.our politicians are also interested to contact Middle men because they share some money with them aswell.
