The way the Indian politicians and govt. of the day rush to intervene on such issues is deplorable. On the other hand in this land the same authorities fail to show the same sense of alacrity and urgency when it come to acting in case of mass agitations on caste lines disrupting normal life or when state and communal passions are being aroused etc. The state is not realizing that this way the country unconsciously moves away from the declared intents of belief in liberal values of our constitution and left unchecked ,over the yrs. tend to become a theocratic state. I have not read the book, but it is obvious whatever is written about the mahatma is of a period when he was an ordinary mortal like you and me. Any one who has read his own auto-BioG knows how frank he himself was while narrating his own growing up during his adolescent life and makes one wonder how come such an average and ‘faddish’ fellow could become what he became ultimately? Why not ban his ABG ? Let people read and decide for themselves about the mahatma rather than tutoring them to believe the way state wants them to believe about him.

Well said Damodaran. Books are easy targets and we tend to DEIFY all our leaders. However banning books in the INTERNET era is meaningless!

It is also imperative that we see Gandhi as a great leader, visionary, philosopher and contributor to society instead of just deifying him. Gandhi's life should also be open to scrutiny, analysis and criticism.

Books on Gandhi, Shivaji or Dr. Ambedkar have been banned? Why are we hell bent upon DEIFYING these great personalities?
Can any such innuendo by any book or its author take anything away from the contributions of great heroes like Shivaji, Gandhi or Ambedkar?

Discussing M. K. Gandhiji's sex life will give you and this parasite author much more satisfaction than anyone else. Person who live in past they screw their future. This pervert author can't even come close to Gandhi so chose to malign his image and thus get boost in sales of book and whoever reads that book are going to be partner in this crime. Gandhi can't defend himself so this coward chose him to malign. If he has guts let him scrutinize any Muhammed Pagember’s life then he will run for his life like rushdi.
Books are banned in India to appease minorities, not for their factual or historical accuracy. Democracry in India defends the rights of the VB primarily.

Gandhi was from Gujarat so Modi is defending his state icon that the Congress has usurped for its own electoral benefit.
When politicians attack caste,temple,religions mindlessly without proofs why dont you put htem in jail?Where is the scientific facts behind their claims(Though our ridiculous court accepts without proofs.Jungle raj indeed)?

Court(one of the judges anyway) accepted that Lord Rama could be a litigant,that the Lord is a perpetual minor and needed to be represented by a (self appointed) guardian.You and I may find it ridiculous but did you read the praise showered on this judgement by Mr.Gurumurthy of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch?
