by satyananda rao on Mar 31, 2011 05:38 PM

Gandhiji is ultimate limit among moralist saints.

It shameful for us to talk and act against his ideals.
we in India have forgotten Gandhiji and what we follow is any thing but Gandhism.

Only common people admire and worship Gandhiji.I observed during Gandhi jayanthi at gandhi samadhi the moods of groups of people coming in tourist buses in large numbers from different parts of UP/haryana/rajastan/MP. One can read their faces when they offer their respects to father of the nation with so much devotion.
but we should admit that delhi/ mumbai/madras/culcutta /hyderabad/bangalore pseudo middle classes/politicians/businessmen with their their so called modernism/eating /drinking/ party going habits have lost sense of direction and values and they hardly care for Gandhiji.
India needs Gandhi today more than any thing else. The social scientist in Gandhi only can solve the problems of masses.
Prohibition/untouchability/rural/cottage/khadhi/handloom industries//vegetarianism/pounded rice etc will help us to create the jobs for these masses.
Consumable goods like clothing/soaps/tooth pastes/tooth brushes/ food processing products/ etc should be exclusively reserved for rural sector .
Taxes on many of these goods produced by large companies should be increased by 50% and by diverting these taxes , subsidies should be give to the tune of 60% to rural industries. That is how we can create jobs in rural areas .
thow this book of lelyweld in to dustbin

Democracy double standards!!!
by Kenneth Anderson on Mar 31, 2011 05:17 PM  | Hide replies

In Democracy terms, if we respect the damn thing so much, why wouldn't the Government call this "Freedom of Expression/Speech" by the author???

Along the same lines, there was this book called "Satanic Verses" by Salman Rushdie. This book affected the sentiments of millions of Muslim brothers around the world and in India itself. Why didn't our government ban this book when it talks filth about someone that people adore so much.

Same thing has happened against the owner of a page on Facebook called "I hate Gandhi"...The Government has a case against him. Does being an Indian automatically have to mean that you love Gandhi??

Stop writing here without getting complete information.

Freedom of expression has limits in every country of the world, including the supposedly free-est scandinavian countries. In some countries, the standards are strict while in some others, they are more liberal. Also it must be noted that India has a very poor and slow judicial system where it is simply impossible to drag the author to the court of law and file case for libel.

Secondly India was one of the first countries in the world that banned satanic verses - in fact the ban in India came even before the ban in pakistan, which claims to represent the muslim interests in the whole of south asia.

The case of banning and arresting "I hate Gandhi" site owner seems really unpardonable, but congress govts have a history of using such tactics against anyone opposed to their ideology.
