wake up call
by Mr Walker on Mar 13, 2011 08:48 AM  | Hide replies

This is a wake up call especially for all the proponents of nuclear power, mankind is not ready especially we Indians are not ready to deal with hazards of nuclear energy.
Hope the Japanese get out of this soon.

Japan has 52 units in nuclear power plants. Only one has got problem. If proper precaution has taken nothing is comparable with nuclear energy. Good example is survival of Kalpakam plan Tsunami waves in past.

Fears exaggarated
by west on Mar 13, 2011 08:48 AM

I fully empathise with the Japan for the nature's tragedy they undergoing. However, I don't buy this argument that the nuclear reactor break-down is more dangerous than the earthquake itself. The fears are exaggarated. Japan has a very good history of handling earth quakes and nuclear disasters. I hope they'll overcome this challenge too with no doubt in mind. And I hope they'll plan their future constructions keeping the present disaster in mind.

What has happen in Japan is a wake up Call. Earthquakes and Tsunamis become so common that Nations relying on Nuclear Power Plants will face massive deaths and destruction.

in India all units will be problematic and in case of radiation leaks, only the VIPs will be evcuated and any foriegn businessmen will be safely ferried out of country to prevent their prosecution like in Union carbide. normal people will be given INR 2000/- as compensation. MMS will say it was a mistake and move ahead.. long live nuclear energy.. mera bharat mahan

SHUT MUCLEAR PLANTS IN INDIA
by krish r on Mar 13, 2011 08:08 AM  | Hide replies

INDIA SHOULD HAVE NO NUCLEAR POWER PLANT. AS THE STUPID IDIOTS OF THIS COUNTRY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE ANY EMERGENCY LIKE JAPAN.

THEY WILL MAKE FOOLS OF THEMSELVES & CAUSE DEATH TO THOUSANDS & SUFFERINGS TO MILLIONS TO LIVE WITH.

totally wrong approach. Our nuclear plants have much superior protection in the world. Japan has 52 units in nuclear power plants. Only one has got problem. If proper precaution has taken nothing is comparable with nuclear energy. Good example is survival of Kalpakam plan Tsunami waves in past. We can also construct Fort like walls to protect it from the Tsunami waves.

nuclear power is essential as there is no alternative right now. you cannot support the load of power consumption by using solar or wind energy ...you just have to burn up fossil fuels and also screwupp the environment.

there are negative affects of everything. Eating food is essential for survival, eating too much can simply kill you. Since its an elaborate process to manage nuclear "fission" reactors with inherent danger of radioactivity (because fission reactors use radioactive materials) calculators dont ask me to explain this...refer wikipedia. On the other hand, scientists are racing up for the sake of all of you to build a nuclear "fusion" reactor, where the fuel is not radioactive...but to fuse duterium atoms we require to heat them to great temperatures and there are practical difficulties which they are overcoming. please refer ITER ....don't ask me to explain it here. nuclear fusion reactors are harmless, safe and unending source of energy given to us by nature. to tap it we require more scientific work. when it becomes widely available, i suppose you can keep your AC running 24/7 ...and screwwwup environment.

this is lack of technical thinking, we just want to adhere to wetern business interest. India is the largest peninsula, tidal power is a great and environment friednly source of power, why dn't we invest in that. atleast half of india can benefit from that.
