China cannot deny Mao's Revolutionary Foundation for its Success
by Praveen Goud on Jun 30, 2011 11:54 PM

China Prosperity and Dominance in world affairs to the extent of making US POTUS stand straight is based on Moa's Revolution as a base. China learnt with failures and mistakes over the period protecting its culture, identity and slowly coming out of revolutionary idealism into liberalism as everyting has a life cycle inluding revolution against prior reign , policies and pratices which majority of chinese hated then. What China could have derived maximum out of revolutionary and repressive tactics have reached its maximum with society , governance and system falling in place.

If China doesn't reform structurally nor move towards liberalism to accommodate the demands of globalised society and protect the dominance of china in globalised universe, China will collapse on its own gravity.

Mao's revolutionary tactics were essential during his time against then regime and break the then installed system by then regime.

During Mao's era, China was in wars, such as the Korean war, the wars with Taiwan (China gained the peace with the defeated gov in Taiwan until 1960s), .....

Even this, China's grain production grew from 130 million tons to more than 300 million tons. 85% of China's irrigation system today was built during Mao's era. China did not have any real industry in 1949, but China's iron and steel production reached 35 million tons (China's production was less than 100, 000 tons in 1949). China became a country that has N-bombs, h-bombs, nuclear subs. Even today, most of China's domestic big companies were based on the achievements of Mao's era. During Mao's era, China built more than 1000 km of railways a year in average.

In the short 28 years of Mao's era, Chinese average life expectancy increased from 35 year to 63 years, literacy rate increased from pityful 20% to 80%.

For those who don't understand the above numbers, you can compare them with India's numbers, then you will know how fast China grew during Mao's era.

You have a different opinion about Mao - but he was repressive. All those cultural revolution and commune farming were results of totally stupid policies. He himself knew that 20(!) million people had dies in countryside when he implemented his new agricultural policies and that produced unprecedented famines in history. Look - even in India we have been through terrible famines, but never have we heard of such numbers. Whatever numbers you have are totally overwhelmed by the number of people killed by Mao's policy. It is another issue that Deng Xiaoping has emerged as the new era leader, and they are intentionally criticising everything Mao did - but Mao did do many totally ruthless things. No hiding facts.

Admitting own mistakes is best sign of progress

Admitting own mistakes is best sign of progress.
It shows CPC is growing up gradually but definitely in a civilian wisdom.

Cunning China
by partha sharma on Jun 30, 2011 04:13 PM

Modern Chinese policy is quite clever - in their own country they started following capitalist attitude and in neighbouring countries such as N Korea, Burma, Nepal, India etc., they start preaching Socialism, i.e., Maoism forcefully, thereby creating confusion and conflict among those citizen and Govt.

What a policy China is following!!

CUNNING CHINA - FOOLING NEIGHBOURS!!

India needs a CHineese communist rule!
by mailme alladin on Jun 30, 2011 03:56 PM  | Hide replies

There is nothing that is absolutely good or absolutely bad. That looks good today, may look bad after few years.
Having said that, what India needs today is being under chineese communist(not indian communists/maoists) like rules for next 20 years. That will be defenitely cleanse India.

India is following Chinese way of ruling. Didn't you see what happened on 4th of June this year in New Delhi with Ramdev & his supporters resting/sleeping in midnight after a peaceful protest.

Yes yaar - India is as ruthless as China, maybe a little less, but totally barbaric nonetheless. Unless you are completely blind, you will notice how the govt is taking aggressive economic reform steps and annihilating all resistances that come in its way - the oil mafia , the coal mafia, tearing down of all environmental protection, the ruthless transfer of farmer lands to big industries at ZERO(!) cost - are all Chinese like steps. The worst of all - the displacement and murder of totally clueless adivasis for grabbing the trillions of dollars of rich minefields that lie in the forests of Bihar, Orissa and Andhra, creating several thousands of Maoisits and mafia. The govt leaders are too big to go to the poverty deemed areas and helping people there - just feed them to the mafia or big industries. A page out of Nitish Kumar's book who has argued heavily in favor of all-round development to reduce Maoist threat - is not appreciated anywhere - just look at China and implement her ruthless dislodging of poor and illeterate. Look around yourself - and you will see a totally polluted and environtally destroyed country. A country which is selling its environment to millionaires, and China shows us the way.

You make me laugh. Try protesting a little hard - and Baba Ramdev will tell you what can happen. There is something called hypocrisy and we Indians are as skilled as Chinese at it.
