I dont understand why our media go 'ga ga' over NRIs achievements ? These NRI's left India for 'better prospects' which is another word for 'greed'. They have settled in these foreign lands for 25-50 years or more and have hardly Indianness left in them. In the present case Nikki or anybody fighting US elections has to change his religion to Christianity in order to contest. She is an American citizen and hence American interests are of prime concern to her and if these go against Indian interests she is bound to oppose us tooth and nail as a patriotic American. After enjoying the best of both worlds some of the NRIs want to come back to India and when they do, they throw about their money as if they own the place. They of course do not give up their US or foreign citizenships so that they can go back whenever they want to. This is all well, everyone has to make a living, but let's roll head over heals to give them undue importance.
There are lots of NRIs not working for the American government. Indian's are the richest community in the U.S. They drive most of USA's science and research and contribute the most to their economy. NRIs even though they have left the country for better opportunities definitely have made Indians at home proud with their achievements. *They are the ones who support us when Indian sports teams go abroad. *They contribute money towards Indian causes. *If any thing bad about India and its culture is projected in foreign lands, its they who oppose and reject it. They do stand for our country. There are those who complain about our country but so do we. Its only natural that we dislike people who have left the country but we have to realize that they are also Indians who have gone for better opportunities and many are coming back. We should be proud of country and try to make it better and proud of our Indians abroad too.
Any person of Indian origin becomes a big shot in some gora land, it immediately grabs so much attention in our media and even people. Why they heck even care about these people even if it is going some purpose?
Neo-converts behave more catholic than the pope in order to win acceptance within the new community. They burn with a desire to infect everyone with their new found superstition. One needs to be most careful of neo converts to christianity or islam

Corrections :
1. Only a tiny fraction of NRIs and Indian Americans are doing anything really extraordinary. The rest are just commoners who admittedly work hard or very hard in common jobs to hang on to their residentships !
2. NRIs and Indian Americans cannot really make India proud !
Indian commoners can become proud only with their own achievements and with the prevalence of justice in their own country ! They can be proud only if they are able and willing to eliminate corruption in their homeland ! What is there to be proud of in the achievements of people in foreign countries if one is constantly getting ripped off at home ?
