There are lots of NRIs not working for the American government. Indian's are the richest community in the U.S. They drive most of USA's science and research and contribute the most to their economy. NRIs even though they have left the country for better opportunities definitely have made Indians at home proud with their achievements. *They are the ones who support us when Indian sports teams go abroad. *They contribute money towards Indian causes. *If any thing bad about India and its culture is projected in foreign lands, its they who oppose and reject it. They do stand for our country. There are those who complain about our country but so do we. Its only natural that we dislike people who have left the country but we have to realize that they are also Indians who have gone for better opportunities and many are coming back. We should be proud of country and try to make it better and proud of our Indians abroad too.
Why she refused or denied the Indian Identity? Could someone tell in a word or so ? On a sunday one feels lazy to run the google and also not sure if its worth searching for so much info. But bro, why she refused?
Congratulations to Nikki Halley for making it big in American politics. As her roots are in India, she is an example for all Indians. However, the one bad thing about the American political system is its overemphasis on Christianity. They do not accept people as they are, but people are expected to be what they want them to be--Christians. I would have been happier if Halley had been allowed to keep her religion and not forced to make such a compromise with her cultural identity.
