if this said star is 640 light years away, we could see this after 640 yrs or else it has alreay happend 640 light years ago n we would be able to see it now...so guys...dont worry nothing will happen.!!!
The star is 640 light years away. That means if it explode in near future we will see it after 640 years only. If we will see the explosion now, that means the star exploded 640 years ago. Then how can the idiot writer can say it is going to explode soon and we will see it?????

dear, its the speed of light n using a simple formula we can calculate the time when the said thing can reach anywhere with the said speed
The impending supernova will release quasar atoms with long wave radiation across the galaxy. The alpha radiometric neutrenos will penetrate earths atmosphere and fry us like in a microwave. we all should be afraid.
How come our astrologers, jyotshis and pundits have not predicted this to envisioned this. It will be a good test for them if such thing happens. That will mean they don't know anything.

you are another stupid! pity u! our pundits/jyotishs not dealing with anything out of the galaxy! They are not even predict anything about life of a star or planet.
Has the star Betelgeuse already died out? If we see it turning it to Supernova now and it is 640 light years away. Then has it turned into a Supernova 640 years ago which we only see now ???
The last time Betelgeuse hit the news was when research revealed the star was shrinking. But as pointed out by astronomers, this shrinkage could be part of a natural cycle, or it could be that Betelgeuse isn't symmetrical. Naturally, people got all weird about this fascinating science and concluded that a big boom was imminent.
And now we have some 2012 nonsense thrown into the equation. Even though it is abundantly clear that Betelgeuse is far enough away just to give us a safe firework display and not a roasting when it does go supernova, it seems the temptation is just too great for some doomsday theorists and tabloid writers.

Hey Dear, its interesting that the star is 640 light years away. That means the star has already exploded 640 years ago if we are to see its fireworks this year. :)
