If this star is 640 light years away, will not the 'event' of this star exploding in 2011, be visible to us only after 640 years??? is this a dumb question or rediff (or the source from which rediff copied) is dumb?????

This event has already occurred in the past. We are seeing images sent out 640 years ago.

When you can see the sun and all other stars in the night sky with your naked eye.Its possible to see the this big bang also. And it might take the neutrons 640 Light years to reach the earth which is released during the bang
