Foreigners way of seeing caste
by youngturk on Feb 09, 2011 11:01 PM  | Hide replies

They buy the argument from libtards, and peddle the theory that caste related discrimination is 1000s of yrs old, but never prove their claim. As if its given. Caste had a different meaning and we have ample examples to prove that it was not acquired by birth. Dalits were outcasted people who committed a crime, since there was no cruel system of punishment. Their children was never to be a dalit, included into society. Casteism is erosions of a old society practised by powerful class, which became predominant when India became an occupied country, specially under british rule. Dont we see exactly the same in our 60 yrs old independent indian politics, n a new package? In fact casteism is an unnatural unsustainable system, which cannot survive for long. In due course of time it will come in different forms and eventually go, along with the dynamics of power, powerful, powerless and reform and goodness of people of India.

If maya statue is a pride for dalits is some way, who can save them from ignorance? Mayas supporters are clearly not only the dalits, it includes brahmins and muslms too..which means those for whom security, law and order matter a lot. Maya seemed to have provided better law and order in UP post-mulayam. Economically advanced educated class must help the poor/dalit understand what is 'maya' and give them the true sense of pride to be a respectable, contributing class.

Indian democracy is surviving only because of its middle class
by ashutosh gupta on Feb 09, 2011 10:18 PM  | Hide replies

Its only middle class which is making country move in spite of severe problems. As such the whole system has collapsed but then there are stalwarts within these systems who because of their values are making the system move.
Such stalwarts can be found in indian administration especially in IAS & IPS (also in provincial services), Indian army, teaching community and a few corporates like Tatas. They all come from Middle class barring corporates and they certainly are few in numbers.
the indian middle class is very competitive and a few among them are able to move out of country and perform well over there and produce a good name for country. Those who remain in India are the biggest asset of country be they in form of Engineers, Doctors or any other professional services.
This country has been sold by politicians who have no ideology as correctly pointed out by Guha. The country is running in the name and faith of God because people have only fear of God. And if in spite of these rot it is still surviving, then it is certainly because of indian middle class

First part, not true. A lot of wars were fought between kings and too much bloodshed happened. Second part, very true. We have degraded ourselves to worse than animals. Can it get worse than parents killing their own children, like in the Talwar case?

India is more civilized than any other country
by SHIJIKUMAR THANKAPPAN on Feb 09, 2011 09:22 PM  | Hide replies

There are human beings in India - the spiritual ones - the civilized ones ...
There are like human beings in India.. - living like machines.. against spirituality, against dharma...
India is more civilized than any other country because India has more spiritual people - one who care for all living beings, share with others, care for the environment(being Veggie, is one of them), and highly talented and trustworthy....

Yes. Very spirit-ual. Liquor sales have increased 10 fold in the last 3 years. Sadhus, babas and sadhvis are reeking in criminal acts, fraud, sexscandals, landgrab and blackmagic. People follow these crooks like brainless lambs.

The framework of the interviewer is quite evident at the beginning itself where in she asked if India is spiritual "even now"?. Sheela Bhatt is a disconnected Indian.

why is it Indians have so much of fascination for thier own history written or researched by foreigners??
do we suffer from some inherent inferiority complex that we always expect fair skinned humans to acknowlegdge our own history ????

will any french people will accept if an indian tries to scribe their history ?

Exactly.. you are absolutely correct.. but one thing is it is difficult to do anything as we have region or caste based partiality where if one state gives info about other state that’s it...forget about writing something on other state, see how the comments, if something happens to some state, every other state curse them.. this attitude is what is disuniting us...first of all, we have to be united ... then we can see something good.. i think still long way to go, and in schools it is better to teach about other state language culture, there are lot of things one can learn about each and every state, we have huge history.. bad thing is India is not one country.. India is the county with so many languages accordingly… so many parts..

Because we were colonial slaves and the influence is still carried forward by our media and the establishment and still we consider what the white man says as gospel truth.

We forget our religion, tradition, culture, everything and start wagging our tail when a white man says !!!

We still pay tax to the queen of the commonwealth !!!

'People in India are more at peace with themselves'
by Sasidharan Nair on Feb 09, 2011 08:14 PM

India is the only country where people live in HOPES, continuously! Even after the country is faced with many a serious threats from outside, the People live with the HOPE; the hope of the emergence of a REAL LEADER one day! The present day leaders are politicians borne out of low profile political credentials and that is why corruption is become patternised by the politicians as a whole! The Country will awake one day with a revolt; that is led by a REAL LEADER possessed with all the qualities and it is not far off from happening it!
