All the people who talk against the UID should be Considered as enemy of the state. Because i live in a European country and we have this ID number, its useful as you need only one number for all of your business. When you go to a office they will just ask for this number, all other information is in the computer. When you open a bank account they will ask for your id number. So its easy for the government, bank, offices, hospital, social service etc.... having such a number. So in short because of this numbering nothing bad happened in any country, so who is crying against this.. definitely the people who want to do illegal things, people who wants to hide. Please don’t listen to them they are the enemy of our country.

Can't they see my face that they ask for a number?Do I become a nobody without a number? Will they give me job if I do not qualify but have a number? Will a hospital give me free treatment if I have a number? Where is the social security in India? U.K have cancelled their plans to give a number to each citizen.Still they have excellent social security.

and they also have very strong concept of illegal immigration. do us all a favor; Please peopose an alternate way to curb illegal immigration and a way to curb terrorist activities, dumass. you want a free hospital treatment, stfu and pay taxes and encourage your fellow cistizens to pay taxes. that's how UK got "free" hospitals.
if UPA is able to complete it i will say that only positive contribution of this government. the virtual tag it creates will be enormously useful in tracking unwanted elements and actions.

Most unwanted elements already have PAN ' election cards etc. They will get UID as well.
nOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT IS FOR--IF THEY USE POST OFFICE FOR DISTRIBUTING ,THEY CAN USE POSTOFFICE FOR collcting data also --frm village level to city level the number should be given--
In the making. While India will need sweeping methods like the one Mr.Nilekeni is trying to introduce the lazy, armchair intellectuals and negative elements with bad intentions towards the country are once again started to bark. The media will do a service to the nation by ignoring these elements.

There are many strong reasons for giving a number. Poverty reduction is a different issue and should not be linked with this. All US citizens and non-citizens living in the US get a social security number. There is a reason they have done it. You should read Nandan Nulekeni's book, to decide who is more logical, this guy or Nilekeni. I shall take Nilekeni's side.
This guy has his 15 minutes of fame for objecting without any substance. The SSN was never tattooed in the US, a few may have tattooed themselves for vanity reasons. There would have been an uprising in the US if this was ever considered.
UID is extremely important for fair taxation, jobs, and a number of other reasons. It is the most important project India has undertaken in a long while.

could not have agreed more, if a totalitarian govt comes they will not need things like UID, they will simply go primitive things like names. It has now become a fashion to oppose anything in name of human rights.

PAN is required for taxation.A degree or qualification is required for a job. What will UID do?
nazis did only for jews and discriminated. now everywhere in world citizenship recognition norms are there. be it usa, britain. it is essentially to identify and protect citizens. gopala krishna is mad
Providing food for all costs only a 10th of the cost of what this UID project would cost.
After all what is UID project - it is an "Employment Gauarantee" scheme meant for IT companies which went jobless in the wake of 2008 recession. Be it Congi or BJPee, govt think it is important to take care of middle class bacchaas who are employed in these firms.
But they dont think it is important to do the same with poor. So even the paltry allocation for NREGS is being curtailed.
Basically Indian "democracy" can be summed up as follows - poor class votes, middle and upper class gains.

Notice that most indians dont have participation in this message board as they have not even basic literacy, leave alone english literacy or net connectivity.
Middle/upper class indians who have both English literacy and net connectivity although they are minority in population, get whatever they want done at the cost of poor.
Poor in this country still have the same demands as they had in 1947 - roti kapda makaan.
The fact that middle class changed their demands so many times since 1947 shows that time and again govt takes care of them while leaving the poor with nothing more than their slogans
