TN against Central Govt Dam Saftey Bill
by smith p on Dec 13, 2011 03:37 AM  | Hide replies

Why TN is opposing Central Govt Dam Saftey Bill. If the bill is passed by Central Govt, the mullaperiyar dam will become on the control of Kerala Govt.
The draft legislation, which received a nod of the Union Cabinet, aims to establish an institutional system to regularly monitor the safety of large dams, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni told reporters here.

The new legislation will help the States in adopting uniform dam safety procedures which will ensure safety of dams and safeguard benefits derived from them.
The legislation also provides for proper surveillance, inspection, operation and maintenance of large dams against risks associated with ‘dam failures’
The bill seeks to enjoin responsibility on central government, State governments and owners of specified dams to set up an institutional mechanism for ensuring safety of such structures and reporting the action taken.
While some States like Bihar have their own dam safety laws, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh have authorised Parliament to enact a law in this regard. As per constitutional provisions, if two or more States authorise Parliament to make a law on a State subject, the Centre can pass a law. Other States can pass a resolution in their legislatures to adopt the Central law. Water is a State subject.
With several private players now involved in operating dams, they would also be covered under the proposed law.Under the new bill, a Dam Safety Cell will be set up at the proj

So eventually 999 treaty will get nullified and as well TN loses it control over Mullaperiyar dam which is given by CM Achutha Menon on 1978. This is the reason TN is against a NEW DAM and DAM SAFTEY BILL

FEAR PSYCHOSIS CAN'T HELP YOU IN SUPREME COURT. Is that why MALAYALEE MAFIA'S want a out of court settlement to your advantage.

The Supreme Court today dismissed Kerala's plea to lower the water level of the Mullaperiyar dam to 120 feet from the current 136 feet, reports NDTV. "Both Kerala and Tamil Nadu are adding fuel to fire on the Mullaperiyar Dam issue," the apex court said. "The safety of people is paramount and it can't be compromised," the court added.

Smart way is by bribing - the only thing TN Politics knows!!!
by Honest on Dec 13, 2011 02:40 AM  | Hide replies

TN Politicians are notorious in bribing and hijacking public attention from real issues of the ppl:

Jaya spent 2000 cr for a single marriage ceremoney! Unacccounted money! She has no papers to prove her income! When it became an issue, she sharted bribing all the Judges in all the courts! Now nothing is heard about the case!! Black money did the job!

Vaiko collected huge amount of money in the name of Tamil Liberation in Lanka and kept on meeting with LTTE Supremo Prabhakar! Nothing happened! He pocketed all that money! No tamil person in Lanka got any benefit from Vaiko! No complaint about his unaccounted properties! His money silenced everybody! Now, he is a popular leader among them again! Black money matter!

Karunanidhi and his family virtually pocketed 2 lakh crores being partners in the Ctr with Congress! His daughter Kanimozhi is out of jail! Virtually escaped from all the charges!

All the past charges of black money and lakhs of crores of bribes the politicians earned during the last 5 years are sinking in Mullaperiyar Water issue! Now, the public attention is very cleverly hijacked! They are coming out clear once again! ppl remembers only Mullaperiyar Dam and not the mega bribery business of their leaders!

ONly TN Politican leaders can do this! No where else it is possible!!!

A huge vol of water from mullaperiyar goes to COKE plant in Siva ganga!!!!

When farmers ask for water they will always say that Kerala is not giving water!!!!

Report in a Tamil newspaper
by decommissioner on Dec 12, 2011 11:31 PM  | Hide replies

The damage that the dam has undergone in between the above noted elevations is so severe that no amount of rectification can salvage the dam from a disaster. Even a medium nature earthquake of four to five magnitude (on the Richter scale) near the dam site can shake the already loosened masonry cover to a collapsible condition.

Wikipedia Report

In 2006, the Supreme Court of India by its decision by a three member division bench, allowed for the storage level to be raised to 142 feet (43 m) pending completion of the proposed strengthening measures, provision of other additional vents and implementation of other suggestions.[29]
However, the Kerala Government promulgated a new "Dam Safety Act" against increasing the storage level of the dam, which has not been objected by the Supreme Court. Tamil Nadu challenged it on various grounds. The Supreme Court issued notice to Kerala to respond, however did not stay the operation of the Act even as an interim measure. The Court then advised the States to settle the matter amicably, and adjourned hearing in order to enable them to do so. The Supreme Court of India termed the act as not unconstitutional.

HI Rajesh.... so what did you understand from the wikipedia article????

Even if there is an SC verdict against Kerala in future... Kerala can simply pass a law and bypass it......

The court case is not going to go any where.....

Ask your TN leaders to talk to leaders in Kerala Face to face and resolve the issues

stop water to COKE!!!! GIVE WATER TO FARMERS!!!!!!
by kidilansyam on Dec 12, 2011 11:13 PM  | Hide replies

There is a huge coke bottling plant in SIVA GANGA district...

COKE setup the plant in sivaganga after they were thrown out from plachimada in kerala.

COKE had paid most of politicians in TN to get water from Mullaperiyar for free!!!

TN politicians are not fighting for farmers.. they are fighting for COKE!!!!

COKE is virtually taking all the water for free and polluting the environment too!!!
The next generation of Tamils are going to pay heavily for this apathy by their government!!!

Ask TN Govt to first stop giving free water to COKE!!!!
