See why we are coutious about accepting N-Plants. Fire, road accidents ,bridge collapses are common in India. We will face such things as we are brave people

Hopeless state of affairs
by Jitesh Agrawal on Dec 10, 2011 09:40 AM  | Hide replies

Hang the admistrators and owners at the nearest lamp post but what I say is dont stop there, please also hang the police officials, fire depart officials, municipal officials and medical deptt officials who looked the other way with such irrigularities happening, sure they would have got their packets to do so.

Please also shame the employees who ran away leaving the patients to die.

Since the morning the police commisioner has got only one thing to say..... we were not late when they were infact and that we had pointed out for irregularity, does their responsibility ends there????

What Caused Fire?
by Balan Iyer on Dec 10, 2011 09:36 AM

What was the highly inflammable material stor ed in the basement area of the Hospital?Nobody wants to come out with the truth. One thing is clear that many unscrupulous biz men enjoyed a cozy and comfortable relationship with the Com mie Politicians who ruled the State earlier, going to any extent to make their cash, even killing, burning and maiming people.Otherwise what is purpose of storing combustible mater ial at the basement of Hospital? This is the acid test for Mamta Didi as to how she would act and react, let the unscrupulous biz men off the hook or inarcerate them in Jail!

It is nott NO for anything. We are a nation flourishing with explosion of Janata. Not humans.
We want energy too. So let us try to implement what safety measures we know. make the system work without corrupt officials.

arrests -fire
by subhash bhargava on Dec 10, 2011 09:08 AM  | Hide replies

nee jerk reaction on expected lines of every body. Why arrest Directors without enquiry. Just to satisfy Aam Admi. Is it a accident or wilful lapses on part of Directors or fault of of regulatory authoriries or Govt's unwillengness to take action against illegal constructions, use of godown/basement for storing goods and unauthorised use. It will come out only after detail enquiry. Till then Govt should have waited to arrest real culprits.
Incidently all Industerialst should reconsider appointing themseleves on board and open themselves for arrest. In a country where you can appoint PM and by remote control him without being resonsible for his acts. Also CM as was in Bihar, why not to appoint your trusted may be uneducated persons on board and and keep remote control in your hand and pay them so that they are willing to go to jail for such lapses. Law does't provide any qulifications for Board members. Consider this, why to take risk.

It is a two-fold action point for the Govt. First, Govt should organise rigorous Fire Safety audits with quarterly usrveillance. Secondly Govt must make a law for punishing those severely who don't comply.

But the corrupt Govt officials are a big flaw in executing the above two action points. How to check corrupt Govt employees and ensure that they don't take bribe and conceal facts? Allow live & in-camera inspection with the presence of media. This could reduce chances of corruption to a good extent.

fire in hospitals and trains
by stuti biswas on Dec 10, 2011 09:06 AM  | Hide replies

The railway as well is a very unsafe mode of travel; recent fire in AC 3 tier of DOON Express clearly indicates that there is no maintenance whatsoever because railways have no fund; populist measures by the lady chief minister and previous railway ministers have rendered railway a moving coffin.
I am quite sure by driving out Ratan Tata from Singur, nuclear power plant from haripur and FDI in retail she will stop. She will turn bengal into a bankrupted state even though bengal has so much of talent.

100% agreee with u. This lady with her quixotic behaviour is not fit to occupy any responsible position. She does not want foreign investment nor Indian investment and how Bengal will progress. Her untimely visit to the site was the cause of many deaths. So who should be arrested first?

Indian authorities will never learn
by SMT on Dec 10, 2011 07:54 AM  | Hide replies

It seems that despite several incidences in past, even though we have various groups/management teams, we are not capable to fight the orders and put the house in order. Politicians come and go... they charm the people for their sole benefits by expressing their symphathetic views....why the unauthorised construction and storage systems were functioning without the permission. Why such eagles eye department was sleeping.... or might be bribed to such officials to look other side.... now let them hear the tune for their lackness.

What about the grieved family.... simply Rs.2 lacs will not solve their entire life problem... what a shame to our politicians and our sleeping government.....

I will give a classic example - there is aretail outlet in Koparkhairne where anytime you will find around 200 or more people ,I have not seen any emergency exits .The stair case and also lift are within the four walls . From time to time you get news the basement is meant for parking where the goods are stored . Ya there is wallet parking introduced if you know which many do not . Noramally alll EE and fire escape are shown with huge sign boards.
