US planners have typically focussed on Mumbai and Delhi, for that is where the money mostly is nowadays, while Bangalore and Hyderabad also have received good attention.
The key to consolidation of inter-societal relationship may be in Kolkata and Chennai. These two cities and the Eastcoast in between hold real potential for real consolidation. Calcutta was the entry point of British colonial rulers, and it was only after Madras regained from Hyder Ali-Tippu Sultan that the Empire firmed up.
Eastcoast has been Indian springboard for thrust to south east Asia right upto Vietnam, a look East policy of sort which played up over centuries. If AP splits, as is likely, a mega city would take shape in Vizag or Vijayawada.
A great manufacturing belt in this resource laden extant with Chennai and Kolkata serving as global scale financial centres founded on deep rooted cultural legacy and immense intellectual credentials is dormant here, waiting for due attention. The lack of presence of incumbents in the Centre may have created bias against these two nodal centres of India, an enlightened perspective would correct this tilt. For the visit to have a decisive impact in shaping future, our Eastcost deserves due attention.

BONGIS NEVER WORK! THIS IS THE UNPLEASANT TRUTH. NOW MATTER WHAT THE VERBAL FROTH ABOUT THEIR SO-CALLED ABILITIES, THE GROUND REALITY IS THAT ANY PROJECT IN WEST BENGAL IS DOOMED FROM DAY ONE.

From a strategic perspective also East coast is very critical. For from here, and here alone, the wherewithal i.e. The cultural, economic and historical foundation plus manning to safeguard whole of Indian Ocean can be obtained.
Our earnest hope is that Obama will speak in our Parliament openly and tell us that first of all we are a weakling before the joint might of China and Pakistan, and we must join the NATO or enter a defence agreement with the US/UK/France etc. Secondly, India must scrap this multi party democracy tamasha, which alone eats up thousands of crores of rupees in solving problems created by mushrooming political parties. Thirdly, Obama must impress on all our counterfeit leaders and sham economists that it is stupid to boast of so many billionaires while having 40% population below poverty line - there must be a forced, strongly monitored rationalization in our highly distorted democracy. Lastly, he must tell India to straighten up our judiciary which is the sole source of all lawlessness in India. It is also hoped that Obama does not do anything whereby certain minority communities feel encouraged to press their fundamentalist agenda in India because of Barack Hussein Obama.

why do want him to tell that? typical indian attitude... its not my problem.. let somebody else solve it for me ... this almost always comes with a price tag remember 300 years of slavery
US has already seld created problem of recession after eating out money of world, although its economy is vety bad and $ is devalued. Obama is trying hard and so visiting India to devalue Rupee and maintain $. This way we will be having costiler products whil US will have cheaper products (i.e. imports/ exports). Ultimately India will be LOSER. Visit to terrorist attack place and others are all drama and time pass. Rest is outsourcing issue (job shift to US). Be ready to lose due to our foolish politicians (Congi.)
