"We have the third biggest army in the world, bravest of brave soldiers and still our neighbours have the guts to trouble us," because, says Brigadier Chandpuri, "We do not retaliate."

ARUN - Don't degrade the Indian Army by classifying officers as sardar's/danya's/etc. Brig KS Chandpuri acted for his country and not for any individual religion or caste.
A sikh led Indian army against paki.... same army in 84 attacked holiest shrine of sikhs on shahidi gurupurab of arjan dev ji when every sikh visits golden temple... hundreds of innocents were killed....bcoz one b i t c h ordered this.... why could not they wait for few days... or why dont bhindrawala was killed when he used to openly visit delhi... was there no other way... i dont think so

There was another way. And that way is called waiting. Al activities could have been suspended indefinably until all was clear. Golden temple could have been surrounded by army and waited. for how long could have the militants inside have had sustained the ration they had, 1 month 2 months. Eventually it would have run out and the militants through hunger either would have died or come out one by one. it would have taken time but could have been resolved without firing a single shot. Although it caused lots of deaths and hardship among Sikhs all over INDIA. Well the B.I.T.C.H and the D.o.G both paid with her life. May they both burn in hell.

83 Indian army soldiers were killed for no reason in the same operation, how can anyone deny that golden temple was being used as a hug for militants and how come they have weapons in sacred temple, it is easy to give statements, she did what was right at that situation

True, but as I said, this was not the right way to end the seige. She created to defeat Janatha Party. Zail Singh was a culprit too and biggest culprits were Nixxon and Bhutto who initiated this in mid 70s.
But frankly, why we diviate from the topic.
Let us Salutes the heroes like Chandpuri.
The whole nation does that and you Mr.Assi and Indian guy and myself lets all get out of this mode.
Rediff, if you dont intend any mischief, then take irrelative messages off, or the topic itself off the screen.

Thats what i wanted to say... how come bhindrawala got so much ammunition in golden temple... he openly visited delhi with ak47's... he was given full freedom by indira against akalis as he had big fan following in punjab... but at one time when he got bigger than any party in punjab then he became a problem... so understand it was all politics ... now tell me if chandpuri was ordered to attack golden temple by some b i t c h .. what would he have felt.... also many sikhs who served army in one way or another were killed in 84 delhi riots...

I am one of millions of hindus when sikh shrine was attacked. And I agree that this was a blunder. Politicans make bluders, we hindu are in perrenial atonement for this. After all sikhs came from Hindu to save this Land and sikhs did it very well.
Yes, I always thought Indira made a big mistake. I think Operation Black thunder would have snuffed the foreign sponsored separatists...and my brother, I you really are a sikh and not a muslim writting in sikhs name, again my apologies as Gurus were the Gods not of your only but ours too.Dont forget that please.

Arun...I being a sikh really like to thank you for the above message. I know common man does not want blood shed. But it is because of these bloody politicians India is suffering.
Sikhs are brave... if in 84 they were given a chance to defend themselves, they would have fought the rioters bravely... but it was the nexus of police, ploiticains and rioters that they over 3000 sikhs were killed...
It is heartening to note the reactions against corrupt politicians in this forum..But simply by venting out frustrations will not help..If at all you want to change the system then please go out and vote.. refuse to give bribes..after all politicians reflect the corruption that is ingrained in our society ..they are voted by us..they are one amongst us..as gandhiji had said..be the change you want to see - unless and until we ourselves change..this system will not..so the time has come to put our words into action..jai Hind!!!

Unfortunately, Indian society has not reached that matured intellectual level as yet. You are ahead of the time.
The brave Maj Chandpuri, who lead his handful men from the front and fought the heavily armed & equipped enemy with exemplary courage and bravery. The tale of his un-parallel services & sacrifice to this corrupt country already find place on the golden screen of bollywood two decades back.I don't understand why Maj suddenly surfaced at this moment of time when there is no such situation around. All of sudden what happened to dear Negi & rediff with the idea of meeting the war veteran and travelling all around to Chandigarh. This is not good, not only for the people of this country but also for the man who put his best in order to defend this country. Either our media was sleeping over the period two decades to bring the valour or something fishy. So i feel that our media shouldn't be biased in selecting issues merely only to divert the attention of readers. Also, why not the Indian army could utilise Maj's leadership & motivational qualities beyond the rank of Brigadier by promoting him to senior ranks where he might have contribute more in shaping the Indian army in his unique way of retaliation, which could have save a lot of precious lives of our innocent soldiers over the period of last two to three decades. Over and above, as a true Indian I salute Maj Chandpuri, now Big,and wish him a long life full of same courage and josh. Jay Hind.
