There is no use of talking about curruption in general. The telecom scam is a mega scam and is not comparable with any scam owing to its magnitude. It is estimated that 30% of booty has been shared by DMK;40% by top leaders of Congress.Telecom area has always been prone to curruption and that is why DMK has been insisting on this ministry -- just for making money.Silence and inaction of Prime minieter is intriguing and creating confusion.

China prospered and is happy without India's dummy democracy and casteism.
Indians are brainwashed to believe that (voting in elections == democracy) and a solution to all problems.

cause of corruption
by rajeev gupta on Nov 21, 2010 03:28 PM  | Hide replies

main cause of corruption was electing democracy in a country where illiteracy was so high .you can see no example in the world where in-spite of low literacy democracy was successful.Gradually cunning and dishonest people got hold as their vote bank policy attracted and induced ignorant masses to vote for them centralization of power i.e. nationalization ,license raj ,reservation all these policy were not implemented in the national interest but in self interest to gain all types of power, shortcut to success when person sitting at the top are dishonest the same culture throughout was bound to follow and it did happened .keeping this in view if we think of removing corruption the basic requirement is to educate the masses so as to learn not to scumb to the pressure of corruption but to fight against it to make gain's by corruption more risky in this country .Thus real cause of corruption is ignorance once the masses understand corruption will find difficult to stand in this country people compromise because they do not no the way to fight it.

Democracy will give its results only through cent percent literacy. Unfortunately, power fell in the hands of slaves after independence who never had any experience of administration and governance. What the slavery governance they percieved as being vassals of then east indian company lords is converted into a polity and governance by our ignorant rulers. The only thing, these vassals are doing is to copy the policies and practises formulated in western world without investing their time and effort in assimilating the essence with checks and balances as they never interpreted properly because of not even making english as mandatory language. What the inadequate interpretation these vassals had is inculcated through filteration and mis-interpretation down the layers by their sub-vassals at state level.

If people are given quality education with mandatory english right from primary, they can understand what these politicians or policy makers are doing and intended for.

At present illiteracy is so worst that illiterats can neither write nor read their mother tongue too. But our policy makers will enact the policies and laws and give lectures in Hindi or Enlish.

We should have made mandatory education for all indians with english right from independence. Had we did that, the situation would have been different.

"Get-away" culture has to stop and cons
by Shri Hegde on Nov 21, 2010 01:46 PM  | Hide replies

The corrupt people have not landed from sky, they are one among us - may be our own parents, children, brothers, sisters or in-laws, etc. or over self. Please look around and stop it in our home first and automatically it will stop.
Secondly, these people are corrupt because they can "get-away" and there's not much of consequence. If the Anti-Corruption laws are changed such that if found guilty even after 20 years the people will have to pay the price and the corruption money is recovered by going after them or their family, will be a big diterrant. When IT or Lokayukta or ED raids the corrupt officials family members or relatives or in-laws, then these people around will be very cautious in having relation with a corrupt official or politician. The approach here is to increase the pain for the people around, so that they advise/resist corruption.

Free Suggestion

Harassment for corruption by killing time and patience is the tool with which corruption is entertained. Awarness among all citizens will not be uniform and very worst in india due to illiteracy and socio-economic inequalities.

1. Why does one need to go through several bureaucratic process to know the public information using RTI?. Why can't it be directly automated rather than getting killed?.

2. Say, you want to do registartion of property or vehicles. You go to registrar office or RTI, you will be forced to meet a particular person. Formalities of filling application and challans will be done. They will ask you to wait indefinitely saying his boss who has to put a stamp or sign is not at desk. He will never be latently present till you pay him. If you wait for some time, they will put off to next day or give nonsense reasons. You will have to invest additional resources like time and money to escalate that issue before it is resolved without bribing.

3. You go to RTI for international driving license for the first time. He will ask you when is your flight as if he would like get your work done before your flight. He will ask you to come exactly couple of hours before your flight. As it is first time, you will trust and accept. On your flying day, he will give hell lot of reasons saying boss is busy in some work and will exploit your urgency to make you cough some bucks.

What family or ethics will do , if the system loopholes are created to loot?.

Every politician is crying about corruption, probably he did not get his share. If it is not so, why they stand united and hinder in taking action to bring back the amounts held in foreign banks?

India is corrupt because Indians don't care about their country

Even the educated people have no problem in being corrupt if it will benefit themselves. There is no point in blaming only the politicians.

Policitians are protecting the loopholes created to entertain corruption. Educated will understand the system and will be careful to not to fall into that loop as much as he could. If he is benefited, it behaves hypocratically else will fight. Who should worry about illiterates or educated who failed to identify the root cause?. Cleaning has to happen from top right from politicians, judges, police, bureaucracy down the layer. Indians, instead of waiting for USA to outsource the work, can automate their internal public sector work first.

Beggars like Narayan Murthy, Azim Premji, Sam Pitroda and Minister Anand Sharma are boasts a lot and expresses their anguish saying USA is not outsourcing their public sector work to India, but will never ask their country public sector departments work to be automated.

May be USA should ask for indian public sector department work to be outsourced to USA if Inda asks for any outsourcing work.
