Just google to find which is was the sucide capital of the world
by balaord on Jun 27, 2010 10:15 AM  | Hide replies

FINLAND at 2007 was the SUICIDE CAPITAL of the world. Now the survey says this is the happiest place on earth.
Which one should we believe?
Or can a place which drives people to suicide could also be the happiest place?
These survey make a mockery of common sense

That was in 2007 and today it is 2010. Times have changed and what it says is true. U are bugged as your failed nation Porkistan is down in the dumps and at the bottom of the pile where it should be forever as it will find happiness only in terrorism and producing jihadis every second.

Well! The observations may not be absolutely accurate, but there is a certain degree of reliability in the general rankings. Nobody can dispute the fact that Western Europe with its fresh lakes, scenic mountains, pollution-free environment and relaxed labor laws, free education and health system would obviously rank much higher than pseudo-republics like India in terms of the quality of general life of its citizens.

On the other hand, it is not difficult to see that countries like China and Iran would be more unhappy because of the social and economic stress endowed by its citizens while it is not much different than India when it comes to environment and sanitation. And at the lowest end of spectrum, we have countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sudan where an average person (if you leave out terrorists) would not dare to venture in.

Of course, there is little reliability of this ranking if you are using it imagine that a country on 19th place is actually better than the one on 22nd, but it would not be inaccurate to compare the ones listed in 19th place to that of 48th place and to that of 77th place.

Please study the Finnish history to find out that we had to fight for our freedom. Finland is a very small country. The best things here are the clean nature, big forests, thousands of lakes, the most beautiful archipelago on the planet, etc. We appreciate the fact that we are not too many sharing the welfare. Our happiness did not come easy! We had to work hard to achieve the standard of living we are enjoying today. Welcome to visit!

WHAT about Finnish history. I guess Finland was allied to Nazi Germany. Red Army wiped out Finnish defence in 3 days at the end of WW2.

This is utter bulls(*t. Finns are one of the rudest and cold people you will find.
They are depressed people because they don't see Sun for 7 months a year and the remaining 5 months Sun just doesn't set.

I agree with your view about Scandinavians in general. I have lived in about 12 countries in my life ranging from 2-3 months to 4-5 years at different places. But I must admit that Switzerland is one of the best places on earth, with warm people, beautiful lakes, snow capped peaks, relaxed work hours - all shops including grocery chains close by 6 pm in the evening, almost free education.

Well! The observations may not be absolutely accurate, but there is a certain degree of reliability in the general rankings. Nobody can dispute the fact that Western Europe with its scenic and pollution-free environment and relaxed labor laws, free education and health system would obviously rank much higher than pseudo-democracies like India in terms of the quality of general life of its citizens.

Happy India
by tony on Jun 26, 2010 11:24 PM  | Hide replies

its funny how india apparently is ranked higher than china. They should add an index for the amount of people that sleep without food and child labour and see how india fares. If they did that india would not be seen as happy or prosperous. In any every which way india cannot even come close to china. Did you see there olympics ???? India will never even get the olympics. Rediff needs to stop feeding the indian delusional thought that it matters to the world. India will always be viewed as a slum until India actually changes itself and not just make ludacris statements of how secure and secular and democratic they are (which they are really not).

any survey result is purely dependent on statistical tools, most imporantly of 'average'. india may have 20% sleepless people due to hunger but remaining 80% must be happy enough to make the average at 'X' and china may not have 2% such sleepless people but average may reach them at X-Y happiness level!!:-)
