Happiness is relative
by Anumakonda JAGADEESH on Jul 06, 2010 09:32 AM  | Hide replies

I lived in Denmark, Italy, Oman etc., and visited 40 countries. But I never severed my connections with home country and happily live in my Motherland. Many people criticise India for its corruption, suppressing talent etc., but from the same soil the country produced the greatest apostle of peace Mahatma Gandhiji, the greatest poet Rabindranath Tagore, the great Scientist Sir C.V.Raman and scores of other giants.

Happiness is relative and developed countries and developing countries have their own way of looking at it.

Can you deny the negatives that you have stated besides the ill mannered exploding population ? We Indians have habit of living in past glory. Not that I do not love my Country, but let me know ONE GREAT leader you can trust to take it forward with honesty, guts and above all self respect.???

My experience is if you don't address an Englishman as Sir he gets offended while if you address an American by Sir, he will retort DON’T MAKE ME TOO OLD!

One Fact
by dharmendra jadoun on Jun 27, 2010 02:42 PM  | Hide replies

many people say we are most corrupt people ...

Let me tell you one fact its not true , we are innocent people and congress has made us feel most corrupt -- look whatever you want to do just to live you will find a NO from govt, you want to built house - you will find a big NO from govt now give money to police , dda and you can built a house - how is that person is corrupt - he is made to look corrupt by the system .

Please note that average Indian was not corrupt - it is hard work of congress that made us look and accept our self as corrupt and it only helps congress when we feel that corruption is ok.

I completely agree with you. Its the process around us that was set up by the government thats making corrupt people.

After witnessing so much of corruption around us for so many years, every one is not accepting corruption as a necessity for making any thing happen from the government officials.

That is very impressive

Considering the fact that India is close to 140 in percapita income, however it is 45th in the happiness index, it is very impressive. That shows that we average Indians are not that materialistic after all.

you can be rich and happy like in finland and you can be poor and still happy like the homeless boys and girls with full of smile on the streets of mumbai. there is nothing impressive about it.

Pakistan is in Dire Strait ..
by ganajivenmanraj seven on Jun 27, 2010 10:29 AM  | Hide replies

Pakistan is ranked the 10th most failed state in the world. Just three places below Afghanistan in a US survey released on Monday. This is in comparison to 87th position of India while China is at 57th position. The instability of Pakistan has pressured many of its students to seek education abroad; many scientists, doctors, and business people who can afford to leave the country altogether. The report notes that Pakistan has more than once been described as the world’s most dangerous country. Its wild northern reaches remain host to various branches of the Pakistani Taliban and Al Qaeda. What does it all say?? Sixty years back we started together, we were seen more backward and this was repetitively narrated by Pakistan. Today it's in dire strait with all the money that poured in since last 60 years. I hope and pray Pakistan is serious in getting its house in order. They have to just remove the hate texts against the non believers for their 5 to 15 year olds attending school.

Dear GS, It's good that you are proud to be Indian. So do I. But we should not compare ourselves with the likes of Pakistan. If we do so we insult ourselves. Having said this, our political system is one of the worst in the world. Almost all the politicians are fraud, 80% of the Govt officers are fraud rest 20% are not honest if are not fraud. This is because almost 95% of us are fraud. We can not live without corruption in one form or the other.
Most of the Indican Citizens are far from the benefits of Freedom in 1947. And we have only ourselves to blame for this.
We should compare ourselves atleast with China. Their communism is proved more effective and people friendly than our populous democracy.
Owing to the diversity of our culture we can not make much headway when it comes to progress and development. We failed to stay united (in real sense of the term) in last 60 years and still grappling with problems like states division, castism, reservations, etc. Seeing to this, if something is not done to tackele this first then there are more chances that we will slowly become a Pakistan than a China.
