Lesson from Emergency is in the sentence "when the hammer-blow actually fell, there was dead silence". Emergency was bad because the purpose for which it was imposed was selfish. But it showed that emergency really worked well in India: No strikes, Govt offices worked without bribe (Indira Gandhi lost the next elections because of this), productivity improved 100%. So what we really need today is imposition of emergency and Srilankan model of counter-insurgency operations to eliminate J&K sepratism and Maoist savage-ism and cruelty. I wish we had a strong woman leader like Indira Gandhi rather than spinelss woeManMohan Singh and brainless, clueless, goody-goody gudia Sonia

Totally agree with you. India is a country of crooked, impotent leaders, who have no motivation to improve the country. As long as their bank balance is healthy, they don't give a rat-ass to the poor of India. They don't want to take initiative on Kashmir or Maoist or to improve Indian Infrastructure. Well I blame a common Indian for this mess. Indira Gandhi was the only leader India has who has shown courage to eradicate the basic problems India has been facing since Independence. Punjab would have been called as Khalistan if Operation Blue-Star wouldn't have happened. Bangladesh would have been Pakistan-II if 1971 wouldn't have happened. The list is long and inspiring.

Why the only leader was so afraid of opposion that she has to impose emergency. Why the only leader had to retur land with 80 thousands pakistani without ant raport? Why the only leader needed KGB so much that she floated 5,000 made up stories in main Indian news papers. Why the only leader created panjab terror to get our black commando in opereation blue star? Why the only leaders said that we should accept Corruption as it is a universal phenomenon.

Although Indira has some positive qualities, she also undermined and in many cases institutions in our democracy and as a result of which we are today a weaker country.
To deal with insurgencies whether it is Kashmir type which is directly supported by our neighbour or whether it is Maoists who are our very one Adivasis, we should actually evolve a comprehensive strategy. The strategy should include elements such as: Political Economic Social Law and Order Governance Justice Youth Engagement Women's Up-liftment And so on
Just using Military Brute Force will not work. It will only fail as we are seeing in Kashmir.
We successfully solved the insurgency in Punjab in 1980s, there were many lessons to learn from that experience. But I don't see our guys talking about and building on that strategy. I remember that strategy included many dimensions I listed above.
Today we have mediocre minister in the cabinet. Except for a handful of talented folks. Our polity is in a SAD state. This is with Congress at the helm.
With BJP it would have been even worse. There is no talent even in the top floor in the BJP building.

You mean to say if you were given stomach full of food, whatever injustice was done, it is fine? tell this to unmarried people who were operated for family planning. for heavens sake dont think about emergency. anti insurgency operations are needed, but not emergency. emergency dont distinguish between common man and terrorist, where as antiinsurgency actions distinguish.

ALRINGER, are u still holding the hand of Kirala PADIRIS? u can always come back to your original rather following a foreign proven path? u know what we meant? u play with words? that is what VATICAN teaches u?
Re: Re: Re: ALRINGER

It does not matter what religion we belong to, but it matters if we are being responsible citizens and contributing to the national growth.
Are we paying taxes? Are we circulating black money? Are we peddling influence? Are we hoarding resources? Are we using child labour? Are we exploiting women? Etc. Etc.
I would be more concerned about these questions than which GOD lives in my Church, Mosque or Temple.

Excellent Raja Sunder, Agreed --- style of writing of all the persons tought by vatican is almost same.It is easy to makeout from recently learnt "style" and "laguage"
Hinduism as Albert Ringer understands is distinguished by: Tolerance Open Minded Treating others humanly Ritualistic Traditional music Traditional dancing Colourful Sarees Flower decorations Rangoli designs Deewali lights Liberal views Progress minded
But do I see any of these qualities in this FORUM? NO, NO and NO.
So, I consider you guys as Hidutva forces not REAL HINDUS.
How come you forgot farmers, peons, poets, painters, cyclists, gymnasts, etc etc in your list of religions? And how come you left the main religion of India "Cricketers"!!

Not sure what you mean. My list is pretty well recognized. I don't agree with your list.

You have Tamils, Dalits and Fishermen as religions!! You can very well add the above as well!!
Re: Re: Re: @Al Ringer - Religions in India!!
by Al Ringer on Jun 24, 2010 01:33 AM
You may not know but fishermen is a separate religion in many states. They call them differently in different states.
Dalits are recognized as separate by Govt. itself.
My best understanding is Tamils are very different religion and come from an ancient civilization that pre-dates Hinduism.

You love Hinduism and hate Hindus. You never miss single opportunity to criticise anything or anyone related to Hinduism.
Don't you think N Modi had done lot of great things to Gujarat?
You will remember only 2002 riots?
Then what about 1984 Sikh riots, Bhopal tragedy, etc?????
Re: Re: Re: Al Ringer is communal guy

Congress has its UPs and Downs. I am not fanatical Congress buffoon. But by and large they have done pretty good job.
Protecting minorities is our job, it not a liability it is our reponsibility.
I have never passed remarks on Hinduism, because I don't know much in the first place.
I have commented on Sri Sri Ravi, Nityananda, BJP, Advani and Modi. These guys are not REAL Hindus. They are just bad guys.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Al Ringer is communal guy

When you are able to bad elements you should be able to name good also. Just spitting on Hindus won't do any good.

It does matter. Atleast you can know what your ancestors practised!!
Re: Re: Al Ringer is communal guy
by Reality Check on Jun 24, 2010 01:25 AM
Take a good advice from a good friend: You also join true Hinduism which your ancestors practised!!
To hold a country as diverse as India together with so many languages, ethnicities, cultures, political ideologies, religions and castes, is HUGE CHALLENGE.
When we look at political parties and their outlook, we have the following lineup:
BJP for Fanatical Hindus SP for backward classes of UP RJD for backward classes of Bihar TDP for Kammas of A.P BSP for Dalits of U.P JU for Yadavs of Bihar MIM for Muslims of A.P Shiv Sena for Marati Speaking Hindus of Bombay Trianmool Congress for Anti-Communists of Bengal AIADMK for Tamils of Tamilnadu DMK for Backward Classes of Tamilnadu Biju-Janata Dal for Oriyas of Orissa CPI for Keralies CPM for Bengalis
Do you see if anyone of these political parties have national outlook?
Do they represent all sections of people on their manifestos?
Congress is the only political party that at least represents all sections of people on its stated manifesto.
So, fortunately or unfortunately only Congress has the national outlook. It is not perfect by any means but you can see that all others parties are NARROW minded and don't have a national character.
