Why do the taxi drivers drive taxi? Simple - it is their profession by which they earn money. So, if they think that to earn money in Mumbai, they will need to learn the local language Marathi, they will automatically learn it - law or no law!
But, if - on the other hand - they find that they can earn money even without knowing the local language Marathi, then it means that Marathi is not necessary to earn living in Mumbai. So, in that case, it is not right to make the knowledge of Marathi compulsory for the cabbies!
After all, the cabbies want to earn money - not learn languages!

he is now eligible for CM post and soon contest election and all fools amanoos will vote him also like raj. how literate Amanoos are?
As per my view if we want united India ( Aganda Bharat) we should make all 6 Major cities ( Delhi, Mumbai, culcutta, chennai, Hydrabad & Bangaloru) are UT. since all the indian are taken part in the developement all these cities (minumum of near by state)
Other wise we can divde the all the indian state in individual country and start issuing visa to others.
from ancient times hindispeakingppl thought they are the best but cant acquire a sq.feet beyong their places kingashoka(oriya king) conquered entire hindspeaking states but cant come near dravida land .this speaks bravery of dravidians.same way marathis captured entire hindispeaking areas and mughals ruled hindispeaking areas for centuries. these facts proves that hindisepaking ppl arecowards to the core

You are already beaten like rotten dogs in MH. Hope you get guts only in ur homeland? Why should dravidians come 2 ur land. South INdia is progressing and they are happy to be part of it than the north India which is just existing in rest of india's especially South India's tax paying money.
they shouldnt be allowed to work untill they are have green card/parmanent residense status. I wonder what Bombay or rather Marathis will say about that,,,,,

Hi, We must understand and welcome this decision if it makes peace in that region and provides jobs to Indians. In Dehli also, people come from so many different regions (Bangal, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Nepal....so on....the list is big). But for all of them, there is a pre-condition unofficially...you want to do business on streets here?....you are welcome....but speak Hindi. It may not be pure Hindi....but you have to speak anyway.
I am speaking purely practical...to solve issues and to provide employment. The legal angle needs to be seen also.

In fact, it was you area (Tamils) which started this regionalism long back. Now this has spread to manuy other regions. Maharashtra is only one example.

It is because, hindi chauvinism was started only in Tamil Nadu so regionalism originated there, but even after being kicked in the a*s, these Northies never learnt the lesson and was still maintaining their Hindi language chavinism and making false Hindi propoganda that hindi is the national language and are getting their due treatment from marathas. Nothing wrong in marathas following the tamilians way. These Hindi chavinists are being communicated in a language (unbiased Violence) which will make them understand. They better understand or they will have just an advanced language to understand it. Yes maharastra is only one example. You will soon have more examples to follow. Just be ready for it.

Even illeterate dabbawalas of Maha are six sigma...what about educated people like u? Shows how work culture in Maha is and the rela reason for it's development
It is surprising that the Maharashtra government has brought in such a legislation. Because, it is obvious that the taxi-drivers of a city will automatically try to learn and speak the local language - in order to survive in the trade. So, it does not make any sense to make such a legislation, except for wooing the narrow-minded Marathi lobby! On the other hand, if the taxi-drivers of Mumbai manage to flourish in the trade even without knowing Marathi, then it is a clear fact that Marathi is not necessarily required to survive in Mumbai. So, again, it does not make any sense to impose something which is not required. Therefore, either way, the decision to make such a legislation is surprising and politically motivated!

I do not want anything. I simply say that if it is required to learn Marathi for driving taxi in Mumbai, then the cabbies will automatically learn it - law or no law! But, if, on the other hand, it is not needed to learn Marathi to drive cabs in Mumbai, then it is wrong to make such a law!
