Acceptance of the problem
by Joseph George on Dec 15, 2010 08:13 AM  | Hide replies

Please understand, military officers too have to shell out fortunes for favored positioning (hometown personal or career monetary) reasons. They are allowed to indulge in actions for replenishing lost funds/savings.
Please understand such justification starts at home when parents seek dowry to compensate the educational costs of their progeny. In North India, dowry demands are renewed, for such transfer requirements as well.
Please accept the problem starts in the family way back to generations.
The sickness is in our culture and traditions and dumkof celebrations - all justifiable.

Bob Marley
Why Indians are corrupt
by Bob Marley on Dec 15, 2010 04:49 AM  | Hide replies

To understand that you have to understand the Indian psyche.

99% of Indians live in perpetual insecurity. They are brought up in an environment where there is cut throat competition for meager resources and everyone is in a rush either for money, education (entrance to IITs/IIMs), power, fame, love etc.

So people are willing to take shortcuts to achieve their aim. This is the main reason we have so much corruption and selfishness. People want to stash as much money as possible, not because they need it but because of long term insecurity, fears and jealousy.

People can be insecure even in western countries but not as much as India because there even if you dont have money/fame/power you will still have a good life (fabulous infrastructure) and access to benefits (social security, welfare etc., specially in European countries, Sheikdoms).

abhey first of all Bob marley is a arab or pakistani stooge posting messages here

it is bull shit ,,according to Bob Marley India has meagre resources ,,what a crap
India has enough minerals ,,Most indians are honest and hardworking ,,it is due to a few political corrupt
and elite that we are suffering

India has capability to create millions of jobs if Indian politicians adopt correct policies ,,but reservations and vote bank politics and corruption have made a mess of the affairs here

Poeple that say india are cheaters are the Biggest enemies of india ,,they are using the message above to post some rubbish ,,
First of all ALL news published by Rediff is not fair and rubbish
it says source is Business standard ,,it does not say which reporter copied the rubbish and pasted here
what is the guarantee BUSINESS STANDARD has its own agenda to promote
We all know how WORLD media is controlled by a few vested interests
I highly doubt the source
PEOPLE JUST SHOULD NOT USE INDIAS SCAMS AS AN EXCUSE TO POST RUBBISH LIKE INDIANS ARE CORRUPT ,,HAVE MEAGRE RESOURCES

a small group
by sri on Dec 14, 2010 11:51 PM  | Hide replies

This is a very small group of the armed forces who are corrupt. They must be disciplined and thrown out. New regulations and training will help prevent such incidents in the future. The change must come from the top.

welcome to the world of congress rule - even the military has become shamelessly corrupt...now there are still some in this nation of fools who vouch for congress's great nationbuilders and want it to rule (or misrule and destroy) this nation for eternity...

democracy=demoncracy
by Saroj Sahoo on Dec 14, 2010 09:26 PM  | Hide replies

in democracy, the parliament, the president and the judiciary are supreme. all power flows from these institutions. but these institutions are manned by people otherwise these institutions had been just books. the people who constitute these positions are not living upto the people's expectation. hence so many corruptions. if civil administrations are corrupted, then why we should point fingures at the deffence departments.
so the remedy is to completely change the law and constitution, because this constitution was created when people used to fear the sin and somewhat honest then. reduce power of politicians, ias, ips because these people are most corrupted now a days.

The rot in the army is our doing and ignoring
by A C on Dec 14, 2010 04:40 PM  | Hide replies

At the turn of the century, an army General ranked officer was never in awe of the civil administration or the political leaders. Their character was determined by the rank or protocol accorded to them. Today an IPS or IAS with 4-5 years service can pull their rank over not only some Captain or Major but also a General. The armed forces used to be considered a Class 1 service where a person has opted for that career after the his 12th standard through NDA, these young boys had taken up this career despite the fact and were tied in by military rules and code of conduct not to be able to shift to IPS, IAS, IRS or any other services, whilst a person selected in IPS or IRS would clear IAS and change. These boys expected the same respect in the civil society, but our babus never permitted that. They have eventually reduced them to more like security agencies. The apathy to soldiers & officers is to such an extent they have to depend on all of these people for every petty issue. An unfair assessment and parallel of honesty is drawn and expected when the country doesn't even bestow on them the respect they deserve in civil, or how they are rehabilitated when they are discharged on being lower medical category in middle of their lives. The army soldiers and officers really values respect, it is for this respect that people follow orders which they know well that it may not bring them back home alive, yet they do obey. We deny them this very respect & expect
