Re: But Mahatma Gandhi says..

First of all Mahatma Gandhi DID NOT say that. It has ALWAYS been in the BIBLE! Check your facts before you spread malicious things about a great leader! Regarding Pakistan, they are a breed of people who are beyond redemption. No use talking abnout them.
A high ranking Chinese official, vice foreign minister He Yafei, is quoted as hearing from a Pakistan general that Pakistan needs nuclear weapons because of its inferior army. "Indeed, a Pakistani military leader said his army was no match for the Indian army,"

Vikas : this is correct when one compares the two armies on every parameter.
The issue between India and Pakistan is not the capabilities of the two armed forces, it is the will to allow the achievement of critical objectives during the course of a war by the political leadership.
Pl. read the entire Cold Start doctrine available on Bharat Rakshak. It does away with defensive and offensive formations replacing all with only offensive formations. The essence of the doctrine is a quick and decisive deep armoured thrust into Pakistan without encouraging them to use nuclear weapons.
The biggest stumbling block to the effective implementation of the doctrine is the lack of will by the political leadership during the course of a war. If you could read the doctrine this would become obvious to you.

If everyone believes on peaceful coexistence, then Pakistan, India,Bangladesh should merge to become a single nation and with a powerful army having combined nuclear capabilities..Everyone will have peace of mind and money will be used for goodness of the society and for the development of the economy...
It is possibly true that cold start is not a real military strategy but more of a statement. There may not be much effect of it on deterrance for pak or china. neither are we currently prepared for handling the situation of cold start nor in immediate near future.
But it shows that at least a few in the strategic circles are embracing more of the punitive deterrance, excluding the nuke scenario.
There is no meaning of discussing will or not pak use nuke in answer to cold start, as it all depends on who is incharge of pak at that point. Irrespective of it that would be disastrous not for Pak, India, but for the whole world. So it is going to be historical turning point. Since in the aftermath retalliation by India (if any) will trigger much more intense war.
But if nuke is removed from the equation, and cold start is applied, it clearly amounts to the aggressive defence.
The daring decision by the strategists is also a messege to the world (though without any steam in actual scenario) that India may not be willing in future to stay the good boy in world front while taking innumerable 'little misceifs' of pakistan especially if the world community takes no action against their 'strategic ally'.
But to put it in action India will have to wait atleast 10 years with a proper plan and political will.

you dont have to bye bye Gandhitva, secularsm and democracy...but you have to boost self confidence which inturn comes from power. you empower yourselves, you will never need to fight any one (which will help us to keep Gandhigiri, else it will be a weak person telling a rowdi that 'i am not beating you because i dont beleive in violence')

--- Pakistan's army is not the only arm of government quietly acquiescing with the programme, however. While government officials have slammed many strikes as a breach of sovereignty, the cables portray them quietly supporting the programme.
The prime minister, Yousaf Raza Gilani, was more categorical. At the same meeting he said: "I don't care if they do it as long as they get the right people. We'll protest in the National Assembly and then ignore it." ---
Pak public should decide for themselves whether India is their biggest enemy or their own Army and politicians.
We Indians KNOW that our worst enemies are our politicians.
Pakis seem to not understand this basic thing about representative democracy.
