EVM

It is foolish to say that EVMs should be scrapped because they are not perfect. Booth capturing in UP and Bihar has been eliminated after the introduction of EVM's. Try to improve EVM's but never even think of going back to the old days.

Machine is machine after all! PEOPLE DO KNOW THAT EVMs MAKE MASS-MANIPULATIONS OF VOTES POSSIBLE.THIS MASS-MANIPULATION OF VOTES CAN BE DONE REMOTELY SO THE PHYSICAL PRESENCE OF STRONG ROOMS AND CAMERAS RECORDING ARE ALL EVADED. EC HAS LIED TO INDIANS AND LOST ITS CREDIBILITY.

Yes, they are not verifiable is worse then no being perfect. Ballot box was not perfect but it was verifiable. Obviously being verifiable is more important. In By-election in AP(ballot box) the congress lost every seat and too with a wide margin, Further in the general election(EVM) before congress was the big winner of seats. Last the election commissioner should be put to jail. The have prved they cn steal and manipulate a machine without anyone knowing. Last they have proved that machine can give false results.

How many foreign countries can manipulate the election?

Equal and opposite reaction
by Vascoda gama on Aug 31, 2010 03:44 AM  | Hide replies

Newtons Third law points that in every action there is equal and opposite reaction.

Unfortunately, this works in politics very well and is applicable with EVMs and Paper Ballot.

The best solution will be a real time Display and cross verification. that is.

1). Suppose There are 4 parties A, B, C, D. Allot EVMs for A, B, C, D(Political parties should pay money for this strictly).

2). Voter must be educated about these parties and EVMs.

3). He can choose A or B or C or D and vote accordingly.

4). EVM should give a print out and at the same time.

5). The evaluation or counting of voting should be done at the same time and there should be a display (LCD or Television sort) outdoor and Media should cover it real time.

6). Police/Military along with political party members and Media should watch every thing Real Time.

7). Also, Voting age should be restricted from( 18 years(Already in implimentation) to maximum of 50years). Why allow old people who crossed 50 or 58?.

8). He must be an educate at least cleared 10th standard.

There must be a retirement age. The way govt employees have to resign after 58, all these old political leader idiots must be kicked out of politics once they cross 55years. If not done this is injustice.

NO MACHINE SHOULD BE USED IN VOTING PROCEDURE BECAUSE if you prevent manipulation at 999 times, there will be 1,000th way of CHEATING IN MASS REMOTELY. I am sure that cheating, looting is possible with paper ballot too. However, cheating and looting becomes VISIBLE and hence mass-manipulation of votes are unlikely. As a result, small manipulation of votes will only help when there is close race between candidates.

Yes, atleast you will know that an election is rigged in paper ballot system. With EVMs this becomes nearly impossible to prevent.

Other wise it is very easy to hack these EVMs and there is no use voting in any elections if the above minimal criteria is not applicable.

Why Hari didn't go to the commission that time.

He is trying to fool common man and trying to gain some publicity.

Hari isn't from any political party. And the guy was trying to test the breaking point of the machine and that doesn't have to be in the EC's prescribed time.
Your point is like a judge asking the police to prove that a murder case within a day where as the police will have to check for evidence etc to prove it and it could take longer. This is just an example.

What are you trying to say?
Don't forget that political parties also have a will to tamper with the machine.
Education gives us means to raise questions. The guy came up with scientific explaination behind his allegations on EC.

paper ballot is only solution!
by Abba zan on Aug 30, 2010 10:47 PM  | Hide replies

Even EVM with print out system will not work as if EVM is pre-programmed, manipulated, then what print out can do?
will all print out be counted parallerly? or, it will be with voter?
if not manually counted parallely, then print out is no use!
if print out is with voter, then how all voter will come together to claim? it is impractical!

so, paper ballot system is only solution!

some people say that in paper ballot system , booth is captured!! so, have they not seen booth capturing in EVM system??
it shud be noted that EVM has been implemented since 2004 and all voting of EVM has been taken under highest security and that may be the reason for not booth capturing and to prove by congress paid election commission that EVM can not be booth captured!!

but what is making the people to believe that EVM booth can not be captured and booth can not be rigged? in fact , it is more easier for booth capturing!
in paper ballot, u wilkl have to stamp on particular candidate for rigging and in EVM booth capturing, u will have to just cliuck the button on behalf of voters!!is not it more easy???

in paper ballot booth capturing, at least u will come to know that so and so booths r rigged and u can demand for re-election but in EVM system, if votes r pre-determined, u r doomed with the result! our votes r invalid!
and regarding booth capturing of EVM, what makes u feel that EVM can not be booth captured? it is more easier, just to click!
above and all, do not provide varifiability and that draw back can not be removed as it is after all a machine and run by software!

by subramanyasastry hoskote on Aug 30, 2010 10:45 PM  | Hide replies

That it has supported the govt. on a deal that it has opposed all along without any change in the circumstances smacks of something strongly fishy. Why the hell did it oppose then and why the hell did it approve it now when even an ignorant person like me can conclude that a static compensation is rubbish since the value of the rupee depreciates over time.

EXACTLY, SOMETHING IS GOING EXTREMELY WRONG!
in my opinion, power is shared!
they r just playing and fooling the public and looting india jointly!
either ruling parties and opposition parties have come in common platform or opposition top brasses r threatened!

now, the problem is, if any individual is coming forward to raise voice, he is being termed asCHADDIS orBJPite BUT IT IS THE FACT THAT OPPOSITIONS R fishingly silent and individual is fighting for their democratic right!
why indias freedom fighter sacrificed their life? is it because of political affiliation? can we not do anything for our motherland to up hold our democratic right without political affiliation? why in every good move of individual is terming after political parties? why people r not viewing the matter neutrally ,logically and unbiased way??
democracy has given us the chance to choose the right and not to be affiliated to some parties for life time even if they r doing wrong!

EVMs can be manipulated!!!!
by Paisa Vasool on Aug 30, 2010 10:37 PM  | Hide replies

there is no fool proof technology in this whole world!!! a tamperable EVM is still on any day a better option than the paper baskets (where all that is needed to tamper is an inkpad and a finger whose prints will never be verified)....

a better situation is to make a voter vote twice in the same booth with both paper and the EVM to judge the similarity in voting pattern....it might cost a few extra crores but it would avoid large scale manipulations on either part (be it EVM or paper)!!!

even better let EVM print out the vote , then voter drops in ballot box.

or ...voter may press button for one candidate , put paper ballot for other.

if reciept , then voter can verify and drop.
So both can be cross checked & verified.
