This Prof is liar or ignorant
by Ram Online on Aug 20, 2010 06:23 AM  | Hide replies

This Professor tried to seperate South and North Telangana districts. In reality there is no such seperation. Whole Telangana have similar issues. Biggest issue is the discrimination of Andhra dominated AP govt.

Demography: In Telangana districts, Outside Hyderabad, Mulsim population is between 5% and 15%. Average is 8.5%. For eg North Telangana district of Warangal have about 5% of muslim population. Also, South Telangana district of Nalgonda have about 5% of population. North Telangana district of Nizamabad have 14.4% of muslim polulation. Hence Professor lied when he said "Southern Telangana comprises mostly Muslim residents.".

This author says under development/ discrimination is not issue. See my messages below for some stats.

If you are against Telangana formation its fine. But don't lie. You just loose your credibility.

Links to these stats availabe in wiki article on Telangana.

Again your missing imp points. North telnagana and south telangana is infact there because of 5th and 6th zones of AP. (Except i guess warangal).

I am from north telangana region and hardly villagers from bhanswada, bodhan etc does not know about mehboobnagar or nalgonda. Mostlu they think about adilabad, nzb, knr and wgl.

Hyderabad is the issue
by Ram Online on Aug 20, 2010 05:10 AM  | Hide replies

If you look at the message in this forum; its clear Andhrite opposing Telangana because they think they loose Hyderabad. But it was never belongs to them.

All the major assets of Hyderabad city were built in late 19th century and early 20th century by the taxes of Telangana people. Before 1956, Hyderabad was 5th largest city. Ambedkar, in 1950s, argued that Hyderabad has all amenities to become second capital of India.

Hyderabad would have developed even if Telangana was not merged with Andhra state in 1956(as per SRC recommendations). It was developed by using revenues raised from Telangana or by using central government funds which it spent on all major cities(like Bombay, Bangalore etc). Hyderabad development in post-1956 period happened mostly because Central government decided to establish lot of defense related industries (DRDO, ECIL, BHEL, etc) in Hyderabad. Central government choose to establish them in Hyderabad because it has readily available infrastructure, it is away from border/coastline and because of the availability of government lands.

Taxes of Andhra districts were not used to develop Hyderabad. In reality, Revenues from Telangana were diverted to the development of Andhra districts. In last 50 years history of AP, Telangana always contributed more than 60%-70% of revenues to the AP and AP government spent less than 30%-40% of those revenues in Telangana including Hyderabad.

Re: Hyderabad is the issue

Hyderabad was built 400 years ago. S-A was part of hyderabad state until this region was leased out by Nizam to British in ~1800 to get protection. So S-A contributed to hyderabad development directly until 1800 and indirectly until India got independence in 1947. Hyderabad state had 16 districts (8 in telangana, 3 kannada and 5 maratha). So even in Hyderabad state, all regions, not just telangana region, contributed for the hyderabad development. In 1956, hyderabad become AP capital by default. Do you think kannada and maratha people would agree to merge with Maharashtra and Karntaka and leave hyderabad to telangana people? Kannada and maratha regions of hyderabad state agreed for their mergers because telangana agreed to merge with Andhra to become AP. If telangana region (never was a state) of hyderabad state not part of AP, it would have been part of hyderabad state. The initial development in hyderabad happened not only due to the central government funded industries but also due to privately owned pharmaceutical industries. However, the main economic development in hyderabad happened in 1990s due to IT.
So in a pessimistic point of view, the development happened in hyderabad naturally and the same way under development in telangana (and S-A).
As some one pointed out already, if telangana is claimed to be under developed, how this region contributing 60-70% of revenues of the AP?
Any way, the interview is spot on and informative for people outside the state.

We hear argument that Andhra people developed Hyderabad. I strongly disagree with that view. People or Investors move to new place looking for opportunities. Nobody go to a new place to develop it. All Indians migrated to cities. All cities grew 10-20times in population and area. Its natural progress. We cannot say certain people developed Hyderabad city. We can say every resident of the city contributed to the development of the city. In my view every resident of Hyderabad is Telanganite. City will continue to attract the best talent and investments even after the formation of Telangana.

Of course Telangana people Indian like everybody. Telangana people fought against Nizam to join Indian union on September 17, 1948. Telangana was merged with Andhra state in 1956 against people wishes against SRC recommendations. Telangana people's complaint is Andhra dominated AP govt is discriminating against them. They want justice. They want the demerger of Telangana and Andhra.

Formation of AP still is valid because this is a state that formed on a very broad perspective called Language.
Many Telangana people dont understand this.I dont know Why.
There are 8 crore people who speak telugu.
Language is a very major issue.
You cannot be forced to write in one language, while have one language as the national language while you speak two or more languages at home.

Why dont you get this???
Where as a demand for telangana is meaningless because in Telangana itself there are many slangs,in telangana itself cultures are different..

IDENTITY ITSELF CANNOT BE CONSIDERED A BASIS FOR STATE FORMATION.NO STATE HAS BEEN FORMED SO FAR IN THE WAY THAT TRS WANTS.

IF YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE REASON BEHIND AP FORMATION,THEN KEEP ON GUESSING AND NO ONE CAN REPAIR YOUR BRAIN.MOORKHASYA AUSHADHAM NASTHI(A FOOL CANNOT BE TREATED,THERE IS NO MEDICINE).

Outsiders?
by hydizen on Aug 20, 2010 03:28 AM

First he should know geography, and see where Hyderabad is located. This is absolutely baseless article. This author seems to be not aware of fundamental problems of Telangana.

Telanana supplies water to Hyderabad, of which 4TMC of water from Singuru reservoir is being illegally diverted at the expense of Medak former. Electricity comes from Singareni. And this guy comes from nowhere and says Hedrabad not belongs to Telangana, which is in the middle of Telangana.

He sees Telangana problem as just an identity issue.
The biggest problem of Telangana is exploitation of its resources. The author should have read history before writing, and what SRC is predicted if at all Telangana merged with Andhra.
He talks about linguistic states, Telangana never fought for Linguistic state, it’s the Andhras who started. Telangana people would have been happier and much developed if it where intact as it is in erstwhile Hyderabad state.

He talks about outsiders, when he settled in Hyd did anyone oppose him?
Telangana never opposed any one, they want govern themselves to protect their interest.

He looks completely biased, because he came from other state, and I doubt he absolutely don’t have any identity with his native state or language, he can’t criticize others feeling as long as no one hurts his interests.

42% of people in AP are Telanganites. But you hardly see single person in Andhra dominated movie/TV industry. Blacks in USA (who form 12% of US population) complain that they are being discriminated even after we see major movie stars like Denzel Washington and Will Smith.

Even constitutional guarantees(in the form of article 371/aka presidential order) did not protect the Telangana people from discrmination in government employment what to expect in private sector?

Here are some stats regarding govt employment.

Only 20% of total Government employees, less than 10% employees in secretariat, less than 5% of head of the departments in Andhra Pradesh are from Telangana. More than the loss of jobs, Telangana people lost the representation in government subsequently lost out in the budget allocations, subsidies and attention to their problems.

If you are native Telugu speaker you can easily identify Telangana accent. To avoid discrimination by Andhra establishment, lot Telangana people try to learn Andhra accent or speak Hindi or English at work setting. Even then discrimation can be shown using the stats. I have provided some stats for reference here.

Your mindset has gone offlane. How can any one reserve roles in films, anchorships in TVs, writer ship in literature on reginal basis. Just go thourgh the autobiographies of top film starts. All of them went to chennai(the then Madras) penny less, spent several days without eating, faced utmost humiliations before they establish themselves. Most of you are lazy and negative minded, how can you dream of becoming film personalities and entreprenuers. Nothing comes easy my dear, If T is formed, all of a sudden T film stars/TV anchors, IAS officers will be manufactured over night? try to learn to compete, dont complain. You will never learn.

It is a fact that KCR sold MLA and MP seats and earned crores. it is a fact that KCR stayed in TDP govt for a decade and 2 years in cong govt. What did he do to telangana people in his entire political career? Hoe can the T- people beleive these political jimmiks that seperate state will bring development. Same T- leaders will rule if T state forms and it will be a disaster for them. Look at the other small states recently formed. no one cares abt them... United Andhra and development is the only solution.

Will you stop at Madras state or go further to British to convince them not to give independence to India because India is not agreeing for Kashmir independence.
SeemaAndhra was part of British Madras state due to the agreement between Nizam and British whereas AP was created after Indian independence with the approval from both Hyderabad and Andhra states.

According to you smaller states are better than larger states, so you shouldn't be having problems by being from Andhra with dividing AP into 4 parts (3 states and one UT).
