What is needed is to revoke article 370. It will happen sooner or later. Resident Pundits dwelling for centuries were uprooted and totally displaced. Why is no one talking about them? We are a Hindu majority country and we have all the right to go and reside in Kashmir and make it vibrant enough to accommodate everyone. These stone pelters have been brainwashed by Pakistan and their future is definitely bleak without schooling and education. If you keep brain washing anti India into their brains they are just good enough to remain on toll money for life. The proof is there for all to see as in PAKISTAN. The country has been a beggar since independence, it boasts of being nuclear, huge military power etc etc. 8000 crores was the outlay for defense in recent times. Just half that amount is good enough to now help the devastated country from the surplus water that they were fighting with India for. How can the world community help a country which boasts higher GDP then India, superior than India in every way and then has the begging bowl ready. Their Mr. 10% was all over the newspaper and media on this count. The best he collected was a pair of shoes. Isn't this lesson enough for the stone pelters??

WELL MR AKHILESH I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR FEELINGS WHY YOU ARE TELLING OF REMOVAL OF ARTICLE 370 BUT I AM NOT SUPPOTER OF THAT BECAUSE BEFORE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST YOU VISIT IN THOSE STATES WHERE THERE IS NO 370 & SEE THE LIFE STANDARD OF LIFE SEE THE PEOPLE THEY DON'T HAVE HEART THEY HAVE ONLY MIND WHICH KNOWS ONLY HOW TO EARN MONEY & NOTHING THEY DON'T HAVE ANY FEELINGS IF YOU SHOW THESE THINGS TO THEM YOU ARE A FOOL TO THEM YOU DON'T KNOW THE MEANING OF LIFE INSTEAD I WILL SUGGEST PUT ARTICLE 370 IN ALL STATES EXCEPT METROS IT WILL HELP TO RESERVE THE CULTURE,NATURE & ALSO HELP IN REDUCING POPULATION AND INCREASE STANDARD OF LIFE.
Kashmiris are not asking for jobs or economic packages. They are already enjoying that!!
They have been brainwashed. At least current elders may have a little love for India. The next generation hates India completely. Their aspirations and anti-India feelings are really based on hallucination and illusions which needs to be removed. What the author is suggestion is definitely worth trying because it is practical.

good response! I'm glad at least one commenter is looking at this from the positive side. Defeating Pakistani propaganda and reclaiming popular support is essential.
Some good points have been raised in the article. Esp about connecting with the Kashmiri people ...or atleast making the endeavour. Might not amount to much but its important to talk...aam admi to aam admi . Not hardliner Gilani to shrewd new delhi politician.
It's very easy to get into 'us and them' philosophy but guys ... try imagining living under those conditions. You and I are fortunate not to be born in that part of the country . Its harder to live life in Kashmir . The least we can do, if we are indeed willing to make Kashmir and Kashmiris our own is listen to them. Talk to them. As people. As human beings . I bet the majority of us (including myself) have never been to kashmir nor lived there long.
Why don't the musl!ms in the rest of Ind!a go and do what the author is asking. Why don't Rehman conduct a concert there. Why doesn't SRK and Amir go there and tell them what they are doing is wrong.

Indeed why shouldn't they ! As indians they absolutely should. But I'm surprised! He never really mentions Muslims in the artciles..nor Hindus. Why did you pick up this line? Its important to think and act Indian ...not muslims. hindus, jains , sikhs.... We have to defeat pakistani propaganda ... and you're not helping by making this a hindu - muslim fight! Jain Hind!

Did'nt you the article, he says Latha should go and sing, Mrs Manmohan & Advani should go etc. But the people who should be more active are the Indian musl!ms. Because K@shmi!r!s will listen to them more than they would to others.

Thats a wonderful suggestion. It would make a huge difference if all the muslims residing in India as true Indians have a clear cut say on this matter. Who else can be closer to them then their own creed and kind?? Truly this thought should come to all Indians. Where are the personalities like Amir, SRK, AR Rehman, Dilip saab, Saira Banu, Shabana Asmi, and many others. Thats a wonderful food for thought. We probably are closer to solving the KASHMIR issue with this missing link. What say folks? Is anyone listening from Delhi? Or any of those islamic organisations in India?

Even if whole of Indian muslim try to make them understand for sure the Kashmiris wont. And probably come up with that Indian Muslims are not Muslims any more. Such is an effect of brain wash since last 50 years.
How about removing the special status given to the state of J&K and allowing any Indian to hold property in the state? This will help other Indians to carry out business, allow migration to the state and bring peace.
