They havent yet mentioned which moon is it, Is it is the same MOON where those fabulous AMERICAN SCIENTISTS (the only humans who are harded than steel to survive that horrified cosmic rays)landed with there miraculous astounding APPOLO ( just made to showoff in naveda dessert)
Should India follow the same culture??????????? & These Actors can be replaced with the greatest Actor Armstrong!
media always harps that chandrayaan mission as a failure but it has made a significant discovery of water on moon which seems to be path breaking.many posts suggest that indian research is third rate and money is being wasted on it .india research is done on shoestring budget and accordingly the achievements are quite amazing which even the international science community acknowledges.now if chandrayaan would have completed its two year orbit around the moon without any significant scientific discovery would that have been called a succesful mission .the media's view is so miopic.
With all due respects to our scientists for acheiving this, but is there any use of finding if water is there in moon or not, rather spend those billions to builds canals, and water dams in this present conditions in order to avoid drought and other crop failure, we indians are fighting ourselves to share water which is indise our own country , so when it comes to moon the whole world is going to fight if at all man lands there to make a living. so better spend these billions to conserve the current water crisis and try and solve the problems of poor farmers who are dying day in and out

Karthik, India spent about 386 crores for this whole mission and that includes 100 crore spent on the deep space network built near bangalore which can be reused for future space missions. If you divide that money across indian population, each one of contributed about Rs 3 for this mission. This is not only cheap but pales in comparison to other projects that Govt undertakes. To put things in perspective, union budget of 2009-10 allocated Rs 500 crore for rehabilitation of internally displaced persons and reconstruction of the northern and eastern areas of Sri Lanka. Isn't chandrayaan cheap in comparison?
Nobody is talking about building canals in the moon here. The amount of water in moon is very less. NASA says if you take one ton of lunar surface there is less than 1 Kg of water. That's drier than almost all of our deserts. At this point human colonies in moon is almost an impossible dream. But information we gain today will be useful for the future generations. Moon will be our stepping stone for other space missions. There are certain chemical processes which need absolute vacuum and lesser gravity, moon can provide that. Lesser gravity also means its easier to launch rockets from there.
I suggest indian government to bring up young indians to show more interest on space development and develope their interest on space research by opening saparate university right after their 10 th class. to see more madhvan nair and others.
