The official language of the Republic of India is Hindi.
by J J on Oct 31, 2009 06:38 PM  | Hide replies

Although, Marathi is the official language of Maharashtra yet, the official language of the Republic of India is Hindi. Article 343(1)states "The Official Language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script." And that English could be also used for official purposes. However, attempts would be made increase the scope of Hindi in official matters on a gradual basis.

The Thackerays have a lot of hatred within them and History has proven time and again that people who hate do not last long. Hitler’s is a classic case. Those who have love within them last forever. Mahatma Gandhi is still glorified ever after 60 years of his death, why because he was Love.

advise to you.. stop watching Hindi news channels. They spread hate and sensationalism to get viewership from people like you who have no idea about ground realities in Maharashtra.

I support your views. But we should not neglect our own mother tongue. English is the only language that can act as a unifying force in India where the people speak as many as 14 different languages. Hindi cannot take up that role
