Dumb, Dumber and Dumberer

Well below comments have tickled my funny bone, but the facts are painful enough. Mr. Loga purchase power of Indians is to its population nothing else than that. But I agree to begging bowl philosophy which is true in every sense.
Politically and stategically India has been alaggard and its position dwindling. They say in Hindi are these guys are making pickle with the money? Invest in education, we have 8 IIMs and almost equal no. of IITs. Come on isn't it crap that 1 billion people and seats for only 6-7000 people? and that too half of it reserved!!! Well this may be out of topic but practically speaking before you go outside india first look back inside.
Invest in Infrastructure, healthcare.
There are lot many things to be done. Don't just discuss the issues, resolve them.
Looking back now just discussing issues has done nothing good, we have half of kashmir with China and Pakistan.
Open up, wake up!!!!!!!

Paper Power

absolutely right, see the US goes to china with a begging bowl & India goes to US with the same bowl, so whos the power, the media just misleads the people saying red carpet welcom for the INdian PM etc etc, its high time media tries to waken the masses rather than mislead them, India can never become a superpower with the political set up it has now, the defense & secret services are hopelessly divided among themself, or by now India should have sen a coup, which is I guess long over due

You Mr. Indian,
U seams to be a Porki and whenever get an oppertunity u lash out on India, for no reason. Look at ur dream country Porkistan today, embroiled with Jihadi Porks, makes ur dream land - the mother of all terrorism-, well, china is communist nation, like the Soviets - former Super Power- and collapsed like a clay house in the rain. China too can't cling that countries internal stife, and its people under pressure for a long time. it may implode any time. Our nation will rise up like a 'Phinix" from the ashes and U lot will realise the truth at a later stage. KP.A

India is not superpower but also no more a poor Nation Now. India is a rich country which has lot of poor people is correct. India has 300 billion of Foreign exchange reserves.
India is lending USD 10 billion to IMF can't be poor.Indian economy has joined G-20.India received $55 billion in remittance inflows in 2008, the highest among developing countries.
In terms of purchasing power parity, India is the fourth largest economy, after the US, China and Japan, in that order; it recently overtook Germany. By 2010, India is projected to overtake Japan.

India lacks strategic thinking. We have to grow out of our cold war mindset. Back then we didnt have many choices coz we had strategic alliance with USSR and our foreign policy was dictated by that. Also, back then, we didnt have foreign exchange and we exchanged Russian weapons for our mangoes and bananas.

TIMES HAVE CHANGED!

World recognises India as a power now. We should have independent thiking now as USSR is gone. We now have real foreign exchange and can pay in reality for any technology that we need. Our people now live in good numbers on all 6 inhabited continents and have good influence on local politics.

If there was a good strategic lead in India, we could use all our resources to full advantage and cover the gap into becoming a global power on par with china if not ahead of it.

But that will not happen under mms or puppet rahul. We will need real leaders with vision for India to grow into a world leader.

I have stayed in India first 20 years of my life, and have seen various political parties elected after selling rise of middle class, India emerging, India a superpower so on and so forth, and I have been in U.S for a while, which is facing the biggest recession of its life, but still I can say conclusively, that India is a great opportunity lost, it had the potential to become a leader of world, but corruption, and some of the worst political leadership has ruined its chances. We as people have now accepted corrupt leaders as our destiny and every 5 years we repeat the same mistake. People continue to buy fake medicines, adulterated foods, keep bribing people, police continues to be used as a state tool to win elections, Can you believe a bottle of liquor can decide who wins an election, it happened in my constituency. China is obsessed with sucess, it has a single point goal and it is on its way, U.S realises this and it knows that China keeps the U.S econonmy running, and if there were no chinese products, people would buy much less, so just change the channel if you see some politician saying that we are next superpower, its atleast 100 years away.

1)If India s population could be controlled like China2)if politicians could stop corruption by accountability or one year show of responsibility(Management Corporate style -perform or perish) fire the corrupt and inefficient.3)Abolish British Tax system and instal a straight 10% on salary or corporate tax that suits Indians and India, revamp for love of country and people.and then use this money for development ,outsourcing & Contracts to foreigners who can bring development for two to three years for power.water.food didtribution to one and all.Make Friends not foes with forgien powers and friendly countries like Saudi ,UAE Bahrain,Kuwait and treat them as friends not enemies,Please dont give fiery speeches to disturb and kick the livelihood of millions of Indians and try and make friendly workable solutions for all.If china can do it so can India, what India needs is corruption free politicians and population control that is change at the top completely and fully.Mukti from all KOdas.

I doubt it very much, if India is capable of having an economy that can overtake Japan. Wake up Loga, it's not possible. India has too many mouths to feed. The population of our country should be 500 million by most and the Muslim, Jewish and Christian population should be at most of 50,000 maximum - or they should be infertile or sterilized by force. One thing is for certain though - India will never have the same quality of living standards, hygiene, cleanliness and safety standards as Japan and any other European, North American and Arabic Industrial nation. Indians have no idea how to be clean, tidy, healthy and safe.

Are we willing to stooop as low as china did
by H N on Nov 22, 2009 01:51 PM

China took power by creating terrorist regimes around it, Korea, Pakistan, Myanmar, vietnam ... Now too keep it has gone beyond its borders to Sudan, Iran, Venezuela and even supports Russia. Their goal is just power to feed their public euphoria of the great chinese civilisation while doing everything to undermine it. And also the perception of china as a great power keeps the attention away from local problems. India is a democracy and our power comes from the people and not from the central polit bureau. Everything that goes up has to come down. And in the new world this cycle will be re peated faster. You don't have to too far. US, USSR, Post world war Europe etc... India did not rise quickly in the past nor did it decline fast. It is takes a more organic cycle. Patience...We have already shown that we an also misuse the tiny bit of power we had by supporting LTTE and destabilizing our neighbors for decades.

We very rightly don't aspire to be 'super power' in the hegemonistic and military sense. Our path and goals are clear to the extent that we desire welfare of all our people including our neighbours and a progressive peaceful world. The state dictatorship is not acceptable to us as it robs the freedom of peopleto enrich their cosciousness and make best of the first, last and the only life that they have gotten. Our moral, spiritual and military strength is second to none in the region today, you call it 'super power' or not;that's immaterial.

Democracy
by Ayaman Aswhole on Nov 22, 2009 01:22 PM

We cannot compete with China because we have a far more inefficient governing system: democracy. Of course that is the price we pay for freedom. In China the governing council is filled with engineers, that too graduates from Tsingua university, the Chinese equivalent to IITs. Imagine that happening in India.
Even south korea which grew from $100 per capita income in the 60s to the current $25000 level also had an autocratic rule over extended periods of time.
