reason is as I said in my posts on other forums, politics in our country is not aligned with governance & administration. Politics is not practiced in this country it has become a game of one upmanship. The no of political parties r so huge that everyone keeps pulling in different directions instead of focus action in a determined manner on the chosen course of direction. It is high time that the present political system is abandoned & only a two party system or an even better system is adopted. Forget about pleasing each & every section with innumerable classifications in our society, what is needed is asking each & every section of society to recognise/identify & behave like an Indian. Everyone should have a unity of mind & purpose. Re organise the states on geographical or administrative lines rather than linguistic lines. Far too many regional parties r taking undue advantage of the political system. At present a two party political system will be the best. The Chinese identify themselves together without so many distinctions like ours. The communist govt ensures there is only one political party throughout the country & hence it is better for governance & administration. Our political system is completely disconnected with administration & governance

Why dont we have Military Rule for 25 years...
by Jas on Nov 21, 2009 10:03 AM  | Hide replies

This democracy is a sham.

We are spending time dealing with Raj Thackeray, Bal Thackeray, Madhu Koda, Mayawati, Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler, Narendra Modi....

instead of spending time on development!

More than anything, military rule might instil discipline which is totally absent today in this Country.

y these thackreys are never punished? are they above the law. They always do offences and nobody dares to even interrogate the matter. This really depicts what kind of law and order we have in our country. These bastarts are dividing the people on race, region and religion. Such a divided country can never progress

by deepak on Nov 21, 2009 09:58 AM

Indians are opposite of Americans..Americans dont know about the rest of the world and Indians know about the world except India..Indians are indifferent to their own countrymen..their education system trains them to be brown sahibs..no wonder Islam runs terror thru India.

I do not think dictatorship or a military regime will solve all the problems India is confronted with today because they are manifold which may take a miracle to cure. However, a military regime might bring a semblance of discipline in the Country today where it is a free-for-all especially for the Political class and Bureaucrats.

17 qualities that distinguishes India from the rest
by R on Nov 21, 2009 09:45 AM

1)      Most corrupt people – Politicians, bureaucrats, Purchase Managers, etc. Corruption is in our blood.
2)      Most discriminative people based on anything - religion, caste, region, first name, second name, sub-religion, sub-caste, gotra, etc. etc.
3)      Most unsafe, derogatory to women. Dowry. Pre-natal test and killing.
4)      Carnage on the roads – most killings on road accidents
5)      Most un-civil. We are the oldest un-civilization and continue to be un-civilized.
6)      Most uncaring. If an accident victim lies on the road, we just pass by.
7)      Most aggressive - road rage is an example
8)      People often fall and die in pits, wells left un-covered by contractors.
9)      Contractors in connivance with corrupt bureaucrats do a poor quality job. As a result the roads get broken in the very first rain.
10)      The begging mafia kidnaps kids (both boys and girls), amputes their arms and legs and send them for begging. This happens only in India.
11)      Maximum mafia culture - land mafia, parking lot mafia, rail reservation mafia, you name it and we have it.
12)      Most un-accommodating. If traffic light goes off, we crowd each other and then the traffic just stops.
13)      Most severe shortages - Water, Power, etc. etc.
14)      Least productive. 70% of population is engaged in agriculture
15)      Most un-educated
16)      Most desperate to settle abroad
Still India is our country after all. So, let us say Mera Bharat Mahan.

Just different!
by shiva on Nov 21, 2009 06:47 AM

We are a reflection of our conscience! Even the richest will remember when he had nothing! One can forgive but difficult to forget!

Yes, Chinese have a lot to remember! Just thirty years ago, they were the pits! That giant of a man, Deng Xiaoping standing under five feet, changed course! He was a Mao-veteran, but saw with astonishment the progress achieved by Chinese who migrated to other shores. They were the losers when they left with nothing but the clothes on their backs, but boy, they also became the richest in their adapted countries! Chiang-Kai-Shek lost out to the communists & ran with his followers to much smaller Taiwan but that country made it big, a tight slap on the mainland chinese & a reflection of collective failure!

Some say freedom was given on a plate to us, like what they say about the moon-walk, which brings MJ more into the radar for them! Our demo-crazy is a staller! We need time-bound action to achieve! Our chalega attitude to smear others without any accountability will bring down the wall on us! We can keep on building! The first step is a dream to improve our sate of affairs. News is splashed now how 89 people share a toilet in Mumbai slums! How can we claim to be a super-power if we accept those as fate?

Nothing can be achieved by words! Yes, we should at least allow those who work in peace! Regarding comparing with China, a flight from their airports to ours will settle the issue! What it takes months for them is years for us, if at all

In fact India cannot be any power at all . With a PM like Monmohan Sing with the foreign agent female boss like Sonia Gandhi backed up by the votes of Indian coolees. India can at best be a slave nation.

China&India

By simply exporting few billion dollars worth of softwares to the west,by having few nukes,by sending rcokets to the moon India cannot become a world power. It has not even fulfilled its ambition as a regional power. Its failure with attaining permanant peace with Pak, failure to solve the ethnic strife in SriLanka etc are examples to quote. It should have contributed to the regional stability without palying petty politics and acting a major power. All along India has been obsessed with Pak and equating itself to a smaller state. It is India's own making.By enormously funding the US economic recovery, China has become a major power in par with other G8 nations. India is still complaining about Pak. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish

Pakistan may be a smaller country but they have a national pride far superior to that of India. Even USA which feed and suplies everything essential for surviva to Pakistan cannot befriend Pakistan. How do you think India can have peach with Pakistan? People with peanut size brain like yours, cannot understand India's problems. India's problem is the existence of people like you.

If Pak is supporting terrorism, go to an all out war and finish it off if you can. Or negotiate with them with the help of an international conference comprising major powers. You won't do either of them and then how do you expect to achieve progress? Unfortunately, innocent civilians are dying. This should explain you who has got the peanut size brain.

Obama admin thinks of the immediate issues. No broad vision. INDIA should quietly reform its economy and education system. Then wait come 2030 INDIA will rock the world. Mostly importantly INDIA should reform or totally clean up its rotten bureaucracy that has served to ONLY to keep a great country as a third world one all these years. Jai Bharat
