let's take things in perspective
by Karan Hans on May 31, 2009 02:43 PM

while i would like to condemn this attack on australian students. i can empathise with the victims and all others whove been directly affected. , iwould like to point out the obvious. this might be the result of a few miscreants and not perhaps a wider xenophobia. lets be calm and measured about the whole business and ensure the safety of students by working with the australian govt. after all its a friendly nation.

INDIA OVERLOOKED HUMANRIGHTS VIOLATION IN SRILANKA
by girish rao on May 31, 2009 02:35 PM  | Hide replies

Many foreigners are attacked in India,is those countries PM calling our PM & raising that issue?
Many foreigners have been raped in India, did that country PM called our PM & raised the issue?
This knee jerk reaction of congress govt is childish & making ourself a laughing stock among international comunity.

Afterall India supported the Srilankan Govt in the UN human rights council voting for the genocide of innocent civilians by srilanka army. ( According to London Times 30,000 civilians were massacared by Srilankan army within one week)

If India will overlook humanrights violation in Srilanka.Similarly western countries like
Australia will overlook humanrights violations commited against Indians in their country!

India has to pay the price for supporting the Genocide Of Srilankan army.

Western countries wont take it lightly any country(like India) which supports facist Govt's commiting genocide like in Srilanka.

And Pakis will remain perpetual beg*gars. You cannot survive even for a day without alms from US but you will never get tired of calling them names.

Do you know what is the condition of Pakis in the Arabian Countries? Maximum number of persons beheaded in Saudi are from Pak.

Mr Gupta,
The onslaughts on foreigners to which you refer in your communication was not directed towards the citizenry of a particular country. Rape like murder is universal and no one can ever condone that...the point which Mr Bachchan wants to highlight is that when a celebrity refuses and award, the country in question is more isolated and also comes under the scanner! Kindly do not link these issues to the Bihari Marathi problem..which was, as all of us know, the spin off of a much larger malaise called the Shiv Sena...Mr Bachchan has done the honorable thing and we should be grateful that he has heard the word of his conscience...which is pathetically lacking in todays world.
Regard
Robin Mitra

Mr Rohit Gupta,

You are an imbecile. Probably it would have made you happier if he had accepted the award. Your reaction would be worth noticing if he did.
What Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has done is totally in compliance with the beliefs of a true national hero.
And you are not being too harsh. You are simply being a pain that unfortunately a lot many of our fellow Indian's are.
Refrain next time if you do not want this shove up your backyard again.

I know what I am talking about. You have to see both sides of the coin. I condem the attacks but don't support what he has done. This is just to benefit him and gain popularity.

And by the way we are here have a healthy discussion not abusing!!!

He is what hs had due to his hard work. Infact while he must be trying to make his career in films a lot many must have tried to pull him down ( e.g. Rajesh Khanna ).
Somebody as worthless and ignorant as yourself isn't expected to s*h_i*t out anything better.
This is not for cheap popularity. He has seen it all done it all. He doesn't need somethng as cheap as you would imagine to get more attention.
Period.

We have been paying Surcharge on all "direct taxes" as Education Cess for the past several years. What has been done with that? Who swallowed the funds??

You associated my name with not caring for India. Have you come across Amithabh Bachchan donating generously to any educational institution af great learning in the country by which our students would not venture out for higher education? He spends money on his own publicity. How many institutions are there in India to cater to all the students here? i would have congratulated him if he had atleast built one engineering college or Medical college. Our students are going to Russia and even Nepal. Why now wake up call. Many Indian engineers are getting killed in USA due to racial profiling and hooligan activity. Why Amitabh did not speak against it? In Russia so many Indian students have been killed, why this show now? I am more concerned Indian than you and your amitabh.

Let me remind you all that he is a gr8 actor and a gr8 human being.None of us has achieved what he has.And he has done right by not accepting the australian honour. No patriotic Indian will appreciate what is happening to our brothers in Australia,it takes guts to refuse such honour.Hats off to you Mr. Amitabh. Yes i am a typical maharashtrian.
typical maratha who screwed mughals made them beggars from rulers, saw them ending. This same Marathas gave cover to punjab and north india from mughal invasions.

Modern day Maharashtrian boast of Dr Ambedkar, Mahatma Phule, Baba Amte and many great personailities who brought social revolution and quality.

Wonder if you aware who Dadasaheb Phalke was and why the awards are bestowed in his memory, was a maharashtrian aswell.

I am not a typical fellow who look upto dancer and actors. I am not sure where Saxena's belong to or if they at all belogn to anything.

Dhruv honestly there are no person left whom youngsters can admire.

Amitabh is a smart fellow who know the pulse of the people, no wonder why he is most respected in his field.
But undoubtly his gesture to decline the honour is good on the people's side which does acts as a support for Indian protest.
But i would disagree to call him great.
