Heavy Downpour Slows Down Mumbai
by sandyjohn j on Jul 08, 2009 05:42 PM  | Hide replies

Vilasrao Deashmukh had a dream of Making mumbai into Shanghai. He vanished in that dream as he was the most unlucky chief minister for Mumbai.Remember the sunami effect and 26/11.
Just 2 days of downpour and mumbai is paralysed.Shame on the civic authorities who just chew tobbacco and drink tea and do chit chatting due to support of unions and politicians.Ask these politicians to clean mumbai gutters.

How many ppl have right to criticise politicians on national issues??...very few since there was less that 50% voting

observed throughout this country and sad thing is that it was lower in urban areas. Most of the so called "educated"

ppl who went to gateway-of-india to light the candle with big show-sha after 26/11 incident, actually went to picnic

during election time to enjoy 4days long weekend...!!, There are many such instances of our failures as a citizen, I

think we should see our attitude first to our responsibilites and then critisize anybody...!!

Live in Mumbai for a year and then give your comments. I have visited ALL cities of India and stayed for good amount of time to form a judgement. You will be bowledover with the professionalism of this city. No other city can match Mumbai. You will find people getting back to work even after 20 cm of rainfall in 2 hrs. The number of cars are far less than Delhi. People are humble and affectionate. If you dont have change, Auto/ Taxi wallah would forego some part of the fare with a smile. Mumbai metro is ahead of schedule unlike Hyderabad/ Bangalore metros, which were so much advertised. You dont see powercut for a minute for years in most part of the city. People stop on seeing redlight even at midnights.

Tell me where can you see these things elsewhere?

you should also take into consideration the population of Mumbai which is growing every day, but unfortunately the infrastructure remains static. even then Mumbaikar takes everything in his stride. Hands off to Mumbaikar

Akhil - what matters? spirit of people or cleanliness around the airport? Your airport is constructed a jungle so that it could have benefited handful of politicians. You dont see such large scale tinkering in Mumbai.

Resilienc
by a b on Jul 08, 2009 05:18 PM  | Hide replies

This shows Mumbaikars Reilience(insensitivity according to me). Be it bomb blasts, gun shooting, roads being blocked due to rains, Northi Indians attacked etc, they will continue their work as usual. They wont protest. Elect the same people. Keep cribbing.

They call this insensitivity as resilience. Funny people

Absolutely irresponsible statements from you. Grow up. I suggest rediff to have some preliminary test for people to write in blog. I am very much sure, there is no one from mumbai, who cribs about this act.
There are really few ppl in mumbai, who crib. We all know to fight anything and go ahead.

Thats what i mentioned. Its sheer insensitivity. And you call it as resilience. As long as it does not affect me i do not care. Thats the attitude of mumbaikars. Thanks for calling names
