Mr.Vayalar and his wife Mercy Ravi were orbits circling Sonia for many years.That got him this position in central govt.I would advice him not to travel so much around the globe and get things done from his office in New Delhi.We have diplomatic missions all over the world and they are supposed to deal with NRI issues. Just one look at some of the diplomatic pan masala women sitting and abusing NRI s in our consulate offices is enough.Are they retired Air India airhostesses? I had almost forgotten how bad our beurocrats and Govt officials were in India,until I had to deal with a Pootana in our consulate.If worker is like this,how would be the minister?

I want to thank the NRI minister for trying so hard on behalf of the diaspora. We must give credit where it is due. We may not be where we want to be but it is an ecellent start. The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas initiative, giving your mobile phone number to diaspora, getting to know Indians abroad by making a personal connection are good signs and indications. You never helped the Hindus in Malasia. I have to surrender my Indian Passport for taking an American Passport. What is wrong with having two passports? If you are really patriotic, don't give up Indian passport. Indian passport is only for those who pledge allegiance only to India.

All developed/thinking economies allow dual citizenship. They know that it allows flow of ideas/skills and money which enriches their country. if you make all your decisions based on what will happen if you go to war with X. You will only be buying guns and living in a bunker.

I can understand your frustration, and you are calling names based on what? Many countries allow dual nationality due to globalisation and ease for its citizens to excel professionally. If the test of Citizenship should be based upon loyalty, how you planning to measure it? Your emotional state is due to ignorance of global reality and is based upon stupidity. if an american is trouble. American government will come to support him. so does Bristis or any other government. as India we too expect same and should get that. But most of people who are abusing india and indian government are failed to understand one simple thing. that is a person of indian origion and indian citizen are two different things. support should be available indian citizen not to people of indian origion bcoz they are not indian. they are citizen of that country where they live

I am surprised by the level of cynicism on this board. One the one hand people blame politicians for not doing anything, and on the other hand when this guy is trying to do something you guys are just making fun of him.
No wonder India is a third world country.
As for the status of the NRIs, there isn't much India can do. What can India do if the Singapore Indians choose to live in a ghetto and make their surroundings the dirtiest part of the city (little India).
The Indians living in Malaysia remain isolated and lack the will or the skill to join the mainstream. They just sit on the sidelines and keep complaining. There are chinese in Malaysia who face the same situation as Indians and they are doing very well.
Sri Lanka was a another place where the inflexible stance of LTTE did them more damage than good.
Or the Indians in the US!! The less said the better. The Indian stores are smelly (just like back home) and the restaurants have bad stale food and service to match.
If you think you can do a better job, do it. Dont laugh when someone else is trying.
As far as I know India cares too hoots for its disapora. The hindus were targetted by the Malaysian govt recently and some Indian origin people are still in jail on cooked up charges, what did the govt do? Years ago Indians in Fiji were treated very badly and were persecuted. What did the govt do? For decades, tamils in Srilanka were discriminated by the majority Sinhalese, what did the Indian govt do??. The govt is all talk and nothing else.
