India does not care
by Rupom on Jan 06, 2009 12:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India doesn’t care about their any of their own citizen, NRI and Diaspora are far off. Full stop. Just check any of Indian embassies, you will understand what humiliation is. We feel more because we see so much professionalism and efficiency in foreign govt staff every time. I am two years away before I can apply for citizenship of where I am staying. I am looking forward for the day I can surrender my Indian passport. Indian embassy is the only place in world where nobody picks up phone and email is unheard of . Just ask anything which is not regular stuff and they have no clue about it.

MOIA has done well under VR..
by ganajivenmanraj seven on Jan 06, 2009 10:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All we overseas Indians can do well is to complain. High time we put in an helping hand and make the minister's hand strong. VR has been very proactive and has really done miracles for many Indians in trouble in the gulf. The local embassies also have awaken to the welfare of the diaspora here under VR. My personal encounter with the minister was on the direct admission for students from abroad (DASA)in premier institutions issue, where gulf students are facing discrimination and their performance are far below similar students going to the western universities. VR's personal letter to me and further investigation on the matter is presently being carried out. This reassures me and many students and parents alike here in the gulf that here is one minister whom we should really appreciate and lend him every help possible. God bless VR and his type.

If indians complain, it is for good reason. Just because you have had a helpful hand, doesn't make him automatically good. And here we are not talking about the 'goodness' of the VR. I dont know what you meant by direct admission for students abroad, does it mean that they should get preference over others?. There is no use signing MOU's. What they should be doing instead is to convice the host govts to put a min salary that the worker should get and whenever any worker complains, it is investigated impartially. VR says he has convinced NRI's. I think you are one among a small minority who are convinced.

Many of us fled India in the 1990s because we didn't get a fair treatment there, even after gaining admissions to educational institutions on pure merit basis and gaining a degree with 'flying colors'..The jobs went to the ones with influence and connections then or to professors' blue-eyed babies.Now after we make some bucks and name from our sincere efforts abroad,the Dynasty wants a share of it to install buddhu sons and daughters of politicians in prime positions and to fill the bank accounts of their corrupt party members.I will never give ahard earned penny.Vayalarji personally may be a good man,but he's part of a dirty stinking system and a slave of Sonia. He must have had a big role in the buying of MPs in parliament to get through the confidence vote too.

Manoj and Rupom, whose brains are of "peanut size"? Those who deserted their native land for a few bucks or those who had the capacity to stay back and earn a decent livlihood?? We may not be as affluent as you are but we are proud of our Country. Better to rule in hell than to serve in heaven. We all know how you guys are treated in by the white-skinned Christians (you are brown-niggers for them) and for the Arabs you ar "Hindi-miskeen" (wretched Indians)!!!!

the route of the crown
by Janesh on Jan 06, 2009 05:37 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Give NRIs voting rights, and Sonia's Congress will never stand up from dust.NRIs have seen the world and some of us have lived in truly democratic countries.Then how can NRIs vote dynasties to power again and again and again like in India? The crowns travel default like this in Sonia Congress and some of its allies...

*Rajiv Ganddi --> Sonia Ganddi--> Rahul Ganddi-

* Sheikh Abdullah-->Farouq Abdullah-->Omar Abdullah

* K.Karunakarji--> Muralidharji & Padmaja ji

*Ooommen Chandiji--> ChandiKunju ji

*Late George Eaden ji --> Hyfi Eaden (the brand new NSU President nominated by Rahulji)

*HH Late Maharaja ji Shriman Bahadur Madhav Rao Scindia --> HH Yuvraj Jyotir Aditya Scindia

** Late Rajesh Pilot--> Sachin Pilot

** Muthuvel Karunanidhi --> Aandavan Stalin and Aandavi Kanimoli

*Late Shri Suneil Dutt --> Priya Dutt....

Oh Jesu,they don't know what they're doing in a 'democracy'.Forgive them and give them immense wealth and chairpower

No voice, no investment - its simple
by Guest on Jan 06, 2009 05:24 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why is the Minister surprised that NRIs do not invest more in India? If NRIs are not given a voice through voting rights, why will they want to invest in India? Why don't Indian passport holders living abroad have voting rights? After all, their money does not grow on trees. Every shareholder in a company has voting rights. Saying that we have to change this law and that law is simply skirting the real question.

"Every shareholder in a company has voting rights."

That is the most perverted logic for voting rights I have heard from anyone. While voting rights for Indian citizens might be a good thing, but please do not call India a company with shareholders. India means a lot more to many of us.

But trust me, crass people like you are a minority who are so much in love with the dollar that they see everything in the world as business.

Can I buy some shares in your wife?

India is a banana democracy. Even indian residents do not have voting right wherever they are living. Though I am indian national living abroad, I have voting rights for every election held in this country. Can I have the same in any city except my home town in India?

Low calibre marketing campaign.
by ganesan krishnan on Jan 06, 2009 04:57 AM  Permalink

The minister is saying that he spoke to the nri's that india cares for them. To be noted is he spoke to nri's who are well off. Has this govt ever spoken to nri's who are in trouble and have got them out. Well for me thats how you should convince that you really care and not by going on a marketing campaign with words to make your point that you do care.

Heart-felt request for Vylar Ravi from a Gulf NRI!!
by Rao Fakir on Jan 06, 2009 04:06 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Minister Saar,

We are Goan Christians living in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. We are are not allowed to practice our religion at all. Last year, 15 Christians were deported back to their home country (Phillipines) when one Indian muslim informed police about a secret mass that they were holding to pray to the lord. Can you use your good offices to allow us to practice our religion at least in our homes? We are not asking for building a church or anything, just to allow us to pray to Jesus in our homes. You come from a good backgound a a secular party and state. I have high hopes for you that you can do something for Christians living in Saudi Arabia.

What do you expect if you go to the headquarters of the terrorist cult. Stay away from Saudi, the country is diseased.

They have so many dirty secrets, they dont even allow people who are not members of the cult to visit their cities.

Indians have not asserted themselves in the middle east!!. 50000 britishers ran India before Independence. 50% of the capable work force in the middle east are Indians and yet they live like 3rd class citizens. In Saudi, they tear up the picture of Hindu gods as you pass through security / immigration. Not a whimper of protest.. do the same thing in this great 'secular " india with any body - our secular brigade will be up in arms.. no such luck for the Indians ( particularly Hindus)... Christian suffering in the middle east is much milder than that of Hindus- who are absolutely hapless. If indians pull out completely from the middle east, they will be on their knees begging us to come back - since the other nationalities cannot completely substitute Indians in all jobs. But no such luck, we have never learnt as a country to market ourselves and also to assert ourselves.. so we end up in deep trouble. God save this "weak" nation and the citizens.

Dual citizenship for at least US/UK/Australian/NZ/EU NRIs

It is in the interest of India and NRI's to allow clear dual citizenship to NRIs from US/UK/Australian/NZ/EU. This will encourage flow of ideas, money and skills for the benefit of NRIs, their adopted countries and India.

NRIs: Don't give money to Congressi mafias
by Koxkox on Jan 06, 2009 03:04 AM  Permalink

NRIs: Don't give money to Congressi mafias. They will put this money in Sonia Maino accounts in Swiss banks, Italian banks. Congress of today is a party of anti-Hindu and anti-national white/firangee master and brown slaves. Brown slaves never get tired in polishing shoes of firangees. Ravi is just one of many slaves, who can do anything for power and personal interests.
