A lane consisting of 30 ft statues of the erstwhile bhonsle & peshwa dynasties in pune is appropriate. A more modern pandurang complex in pandharpur. 65 marathi/english universities (catering to 50000) marathi students (only) is another thing that they can do.
I respect shivaji but isnt this shivaji mania crossing the limit .Airport ,railways station, and wot not there are other ppl too who were true leaders if u really want to name something

You dont seem to get bothered about every other street named after indira/rajiv/nehru??? Then why complain about locals admiring their own heros.

I agree there are several streets with the name of gandhi and nehru why not shivaji maharaj he was indeed a great leader and deserves much more than this... he is the one who in 17th century asked british people to leave Hindusthan

Isn't there something better that locals would like done than us copying the USA and build a statue that will RUIN the Marine Drive view, the BOMBAY skyline and will waste hundreds of crores. There are enough statues of Shivaji all over Bombay and there are enough things dedicated to him. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
