It is indeed frightening!
by Gautam nil on Mar 06, 2008 01:26 PM

1) Present education teaches only 2 2 = 4, without culture, power to imagine, judicially decide, due to which educated tremble before society's problems!
2) Present medical science is barbaric on the name of science as most of the treatments to variety of diseases are failures though, it is claimed only some advanced cases of cancer are not cured! 3) Present judicial system takes two to three decades to decide a simple case of land lord/tenant dispute whereas the telecom authorities, rationing authorities and police etc., decide such cases within days! Other aspects of present judiciary support acts of vested interests, encouraging corruption. 4) Public distribution system caters mostly supplies only to a part of right customers leaving others to guess or to poor quality supplies! 5) Politics play a vital roll in security and other benefits due to public.
6) Every where corruption. 7) Agriculturists commit suicide or starve in large numbers.
8) When food items are scarce, they are imported at higher costs than that are locally available. 9) High ranking officers don't move to the field, but work on table with mostly false statistics. 10)National exchequers drain by ways of large number of scams that are not recovered but taxes are levied to compensate for the losses.

India is being noticed now more than before
by sonia gupta on Mar 04, 2008 09:40 PM

India was not an important country for USA until now, which is why it was only covered in news when 1000 people would die in floods/famine/earthquake etc.

Awareness about India is increasing now which is making them ask more questions.

I usually answer their questions without trying to paint a rosy picture. I thought that words were not enough, actual experience will be much better. So I am bringing some of my friends to visit India next winter. They can make up their own mind about India and her people when they see it.

India's Image
by on Mar 04, 2008 10:53 AM

The Westerners must be told that the entire industrial revolution of England was funded from one state of Bengal. The country was subjected to loot for over 800 years by invaders which included the Europeans and yet today India has so much to offer.

However, between Indians we must realise that the policies adopted for over 50 years by post independent India which guaranteed salary without responsibility thanks to the "unionism of left" is the cause for the lethargy that has had taken over the country. Today, we are growing "inspite of" and not "because of" the political leadership. Thanks to the Indian farmer who takes great pride and risk in providing food for all of us, the entrepreneurial zeal of the thousands of businessmen and the passion of modern day rishis and yogis, India is back in the reckoning. These are the people who will put India's image back in the reckoning.

Geography in America

Do not waste your time and energy explaining to the Americans the real truth about India. The Amercians lack common sense and their knowledge of history and geography a very poor poor. Do you now know Bush heard about a country called Pakistan only after he become the President of US?

Not to worry. They way the economy and the US Dollar is going, the Americans may be the 'paupers' in the near future. Though it is a rich country, most people are heavily in debt to support their 'modern' lifestyle. Definitely not sustainable.

India is the only country
by muralidharan jayapal on Mar 03, 2008 03:20 PM  | Hide replies

I think India is the only country where a buffalo and a BMW can go side by side on a road.
Forget the Illiterate people. Even educated men going around in cars stop and piss on the first wall they see, regardless of whether it is a metro or a village. And motor cyclists think the red signals are only to be jumped. And I don't want to talk about the idiots who spit right on the road they walk. What has education taught to these people? What a shame!

I think ...you are going tangent...all this does not make India great.India as on today needs investment of USD 450 Billion to build up it's infrastructure in next 5 years to meet present needs...and global brands IIT's have no money to pay salaries to their professors next month...such a poor country is this ...China spent USD 3 Billion to build world's biggest airport in 4 years for Beijing olympics...they r spending 40 Billion on Olympics... 5 times of last olympic in Greece...The GOI is so poor ...New Delhi lost to 5th position city of little South Korea in bid for 2014 Asian Games...poor govt ...but rich industrialists ...some 10 ...half of them proven tax eveders...leave aside TATA,GODREJ,INFOSYS,WIPRO ...thanks god they are distributing wealth & good at corporate social responsibilities...and rest are just good for nothing...may be at the most good for BSE/NSE brokers & share holders ...all fall under 1% od Indian population.

Point is there are exceptional brilliant people ... a few millions ...but they are not enough with their present mentality of self growth for a country of over 1200 millions...the country is going to dogs...with the leaership we have...60 years of independence ...and indians cry like kids to prove the internaional community...we are trying...we are improving...pl recognise us ...they respect you ...whatever ...for your ancient possessions...what's great in india after 1947...you can't name a building , road, own developed technology /produ

HiPreeti! Your question is pertinent...we must know what's best to benchmark with?
I will prefer USA...though we will lose to them on almost all accounts...believe me (I have seen how Indians treat Nepalese with contempt...how they relate Pakistan to no.2...fashionably so no difference if Americans make fun of India ...though they honour indian individual brilliance...but then these are 2 things quite different)...wellcoming back to USA benchmark...

USA is the largest democracy (after India),Plural society, large country , british colony, naturally resourceful so land of oportunity, equality, liberty what not...and how an American feels about his country ...their nationalism ...you will envy ...USA is the best country to benchmark with ...and indians are so successful there ...damn it...we have to only copy it...in this land ...and we are too good at it...and when we compare a country we wanna ppick up best ...don't take their worst ...we need not copy their multi-billion dollar porn industry ...all said and done...evevry society has problems...if we take sadistic pleasure in their problems...perhaps we will never improve .I also believe any country which will remove USA ,and will become no.1 will do all that outside USA ...what USA has been doing.Look at India ...interfering in SriLanka...divided Pakistan...endless issues...ask any indian neighbouring country...r they happy with India?
I wanna honour gag order put up by Sanchita...after 2 violations...this issue

cont'd...

product ...we are the manpower suppliers of the world...we supply at half the rate ...we build technology & products for advance countries ...and we have nothing of our own ...wanna see wealth of govt...visit a state or central govt dept...the offices are so poorly designed ,managed ...filthy buildings, broken furnitures, dust eating files, indisciplined employees ...politicians...better not talk about that ...all this never makes a great country ...not in last 60 years ...never in next 100 years...if u see developed countries...they were never like this never ...so this talk of India emerging as super power in 2050 is a joke...in fact it will collapse ...due to it's internal contradiction...poverty , crime ,communialism ...and most importantly lack of nationalism ...keep seeing...recent mob lynching incidents, state sponsored terrorism in west bengal ...i can see writing on the wall...why international community makes fun...there are valid reasons...

Munna wrote an essay for school competition...under some elder's guidance...little did he realize...this is a topic in core of india's plight in this world...tell me why are indians disliked, joked at ...and at times hated ...US,UK, Malesia, Srilanka...Even Bangla Desh & Nepal...our own ...neighbour ...leave aside Pakistan...there is a problem ...but we won't accept...just look at Parsi community in India ...arrived at Navasari in 13th century...the king said "No"...they said we will mix up like sugar in water...we will make it our country ...today the most rich , educated , nationalistic , entrpeneuring ...the most contributing community , the most peaceful & most quiet community of India... Parsis...inspite of being the smallest ...have we learnt from them ...never ... or we won't be thrown out from Malesia ...

Tell me any country which is 100% perfect.
Don't tell US or UK, both are under recession now.Total external debt of USA is $10.3 trillion. Only Good 101 floors buildings and designer furnitures not makes a great country.

OK..if you dislike US,UK...look at Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand ...many countries in EU...even UAE & such liberal countries (in spite of no democracy)...don't you think ...the quality of life of average citizen in these countries is far far superior... the brand image these countries have built for themselves by virtue of their leadership, vision , nationalism, economic progress , civic sense ...where are we in comparison from the perspective of common man ...having visited/worked at most of them ...having seen by own eyes...i can say they have done miracles ...

And we are nowhere even in top 50 countries in the world...(except for our consumption capacity by virtue of 1 billion figure)...not even closely competing with China...but we behave & expect the world to treat us as a great "performing "nation (we are known for our past & some sparks of software - believe me software exports from tiny countries like Ireland & Israel match ours-these are so small countries u can't locate them on map%u2026and you have countries like Korea ..absolutely on high end software %u2026working quietly)...as a whole nation ,we are just better than worst of the lot or failed states ...if you look at our primary education, health ,civic amenities & law & order situation ,discipline ...the way we treat our fellow citizens in own country %u2026that's how world makes fun when great immigrant Indians talk big things...or behave in those countries in a weird way while visiting/staying the

All for missionary mission of conversions
by Sanjay on Mar 02, 2008 02:41 PM  | Hide replies

Remember this guy is a 15 year old talking about India. What do other 15 year olds know of the outside world? Further churches play the poverty card of India to do the hilt so they can do missionary work. Look at Mother Teresa, when she was sick I remember in high school they showed the glass high rise building she was taken too all the other children mouths were wide open they have glass buildings in India vs the Juggi she was operating from. What they exploit in the churches is to get more money for conversions.

You have very easily put the blame on churches for projecting India as a poor nation just to get more money from the western world. Well this is true that churches depend on foreign donations for execution of their work but this does not in any way means that they are projecting India in a bad light. And after all money they receive is for benefit of slum dwellers and poor down trodden section of the society. And as far as conversion is concerned you my fried are misinformed. Conversions are not forced on anyone.
And even if anyone converts , I agree it might not be change of heart but for monetary benfits, but it gives a better life to people oppressed by so called high caste hindus who worship a cow but would hate his fellow human brothers( scientifically proven we all originated in Africa and spread al across the world, watch NGC or discovery).
And it is not that people are converting to Christianity, thousand are converting to Buddhism also. You have criticized mother teressa but have not seen how many people she helped, picked up lepors from streets, whom no one touch, I guess this is the sin she has committed as far as you are concerned.
