some time i wonder to know that few people's text about matter is totally out on sense.they are so tidely blind for negative blind that they always search for negative thing in a good matter. they should be develop their skill in a rightful manner so that they can understant what is right or what is wrong.hence they should react according to that.

Another incident was in Times Of India which showed that what the two of the most bitter enemies Israel & Palestine have in common. The love for India & Amitabh Bachchan. The DVDs of his movies sell for the ammount equal to India Rs.500/-. So the idea of India is different in different parts of world.

my friend india still lives in villages, we are still a minority, having facilities like internet. if you don't want films on poverty, help remove it. see the example of sigapore and china and many other who raised up so fast. i second ganesh shyam that population is the reason to all problems we are facing. have a vision and start working on it now.

Man every coin has two faces.. Its not always nice to show only one face... Ya there are many poor people in India but its not the only side of it... There are many ppl who are now making their mark in world.. and they all are Indians.. Why we should show others the bad side.. anyways they are not coming to help us... what they can do they can just laugh at it or show sympathy... Its time now to show the world how we are progressing and not less than any other.. Its simple if we are having some problems in the family we have to deal it ourself there is no point telling it to neighbours.. They cant help it out..we have to do it.. All and all my point is no need to tell worst things to get sympathy as its not gonna help..Now its time to show the other face of coin which I beleive is much better and infact its true to... We are progressing and we will progress......

If you go to other parts of world you will see & hear different views. An article was there in The Indian Express last year , the writer had gone to Egypt, the taxi driver who was taking him to his deatination came to know that he was from India .The taxi driver was so excited to meet someone from the land of Amitabh Bachchan his view was that Amitabh Bachcha is a muslim & all Indians are muslims. Our man tried his best to tell him otherwise but he refused to believe him & got a little upset on being told so.Our man then let the misconception persist because if that Egyption loves india for any reason it is good.

Corruption is the main reason why India is still backward
by Sanjay Gupta on Feb 29, 2008 12:02 PM

We had been ruled by Birtishes for over a 100 years, they introduced the bakshish culture. Now it has transformed into hafta or ghus.Politicians call it party funding and some govt. employees consider it a right to take bribes.

Even after 60 years of independence, we have not grown because the fact is parties voted to power know that they wont be able to come to power again and hence indulge in large scale corruption.

Very few politicians like narendra Modi of Gujarat have come to power on account of development and have worked like him.

Vote for the right people and right party, if we want to make India into a super power

Even in India there are people they don%u2019t know much about India, but if anybody has real interest to know about India whether it is an Indian or a foreign we should welcome that interest and should explain the things properly.

We have lots of examples to give that India is anywhere behind, but there is poverty and Inequality it is not negligible .Our government is struggling to reduce the poverty for a sustainable growth; it is a long term process.

Even then India has marked the presence in different areas globally; its educated and skilled work force is its biggest advantage.

India is the Country of Mahatma Gandhi
Dadabhai Naoroji is an Indian who started his own business in London as early as 1859
India has business powers such as TATA who acquired Corus and Tetley.
India has got institutions such as IIT s and IIM s offering high quality education.

CEO of Pepsi co. is an Indian woman- Indira Nui
CEO of Vodafone again is an Indian- Arun Sarin
McKinsey CEO Rajat Gupta, Rana Talwar at Standard Chartered, Rono Dutta of United Airlines, Rakesh Gangwal of US Airways is some of the Indian%u2019s made their mark globally and there are many more . Be proud!

Considering that the country in question is US I am not surprised. We must see "Jaywalking" on Tonight show with Jay Leno to understand what I mean.
They don't know who Barrak Obama is? They dont know what language is spoken in Britain. I guess ignorant people are in every corner of globe.

accept the fact
by gac on Feb 29, 2008 11:54 AM  | Hide replies

india is a poor country, 1/2 of its children are undernourished and also leads the world in this category, major junk of indians are still living under poverty. our human index is 128 which is near the fag end of the list. inspite of these conditions indian market(NSE/BSE) is raising true but the % of ppl participating are really in miniscule(less).it is only these miniscule ppl enjoying the growth of indian economy. and certainly the purchasing power of the middle class has increased who are enjoying the economic/ infrastructural developments of our country, which in no way have not made any impact on many ppl who are still dying out of hunger in our country. a country has to be termed as a poor country if cant provide basic food for living for its citizens.

Dear Sanjay, forget about North Eastern States. Even many people in Maharashtra do not know how many States are in South India (I have chosen Maharashtra due to proximity - no offence intended). They have a generic name "Madrasis" for all South Indians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly JGN. I had the same experience while working in Mumbai. Even if you say you are from Karnataka (whose border touches Maharashtra), they still call you Madarasi just because you are South of Maharashtra. (No offence intended).

I think we need to address this issue.

not only in maharashtra.. if you go to south - particularly in chennai - if you donot belong to Tamilnadu or Kerala or Karnataka and if you speak Hindi - you are called NORTH INDIAN - whether you belong to Asam or Gujarat - you are just one - NORTH INDIAN.

Boss, please don't quote your own personal experience.

Though I am from Karnataka, they understand what Karnataka is. So do they understand Andhra and Kerala as well.

People of Tamil Nadu are not dumb not to know the 4 southern states. Infact, in South, we do study the geography of India in much greater detail than other states. Hence, we are much aware of the geography. OK.

If you speak Hindi, they may perceive you as a North Indian. But if you tell them, where are you from, they will know.

Unlike some uni-dimensional Maharashtrians who feel all from South India are Madarasis and MUST eat Idli, Dosa and Sambar for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
