I think every one should oppose the word " Neclear", If Japan can sustain and make progress more than us without so called " Neclear" then why we are so much dependant on it? Or is it that, it is simple root and we are not ready to explore other options?

having good relations with india has now become the need of the super-8 countries. they can no longer overlook india as a minnow because india has truly emerged as a major and key player in south-east asia. it is surely on its road to becoming a super-power by 2015. so the initial 'no-no-no' by some countries can not stop india from getting the deal signed in its favor on terms that would be honorably acceptable to india.

India would require 500-600 thousand MW of power by 2030
by Loga on Sep 01, 2008 10:51 AM  | Hide replies

India would require 500-600 thousand MW of power by 2030 up from 132,110 at present. Thus nuclear power is the only way forward for India.
Energy needs of India are increasing exponentially and only nuclear power is the way forward. Increased price of oil and gas internationally, issues of climate change associated with coal as well as the breakdown of consensus on big dams, India needs Nuclear Energy.
India generates 132,110 lakh MW of power annually. Of this, 64.7 per cent is generated from thermal power, 26.2 per cent is generated through hydro electric power, 5.9 per cent is from renewable power sources and only 3.1 per cent through nuclear power.Nuclear power would contribute 10 per cent of the country's energy needs by the year 2022 and 26 per cent of the needs by the year 2052.
Share of nuclear power in world wide energy production was one per cent in 1960 and between 1960 to 1986, it rose to 16 per cent of world's energy production. The share has remained constant since then. There are 439 nuclear power reactors operating around the world and the US accounts for 104 of these reactors followed by France at 59, Japan at 55, Russian Federation 31 and Republic of Korea 20.
Out of the 35 new nuclear power plants under construction in the world, Asia accounts for 24 of these. While China is building six new nuclear power plants to get 5,222 MW power for its grid, India too is building six such plants which would add 2910 MW of to its grid.

But, how much energy can be hanessed from uranium by fission considering the limited supply. Of-course thorium cycle is another matter!

I hear cost of eletricity from these new nclear plants would be 15 times more expensive than coal plants. Plus you have to "BUY" the nuclear fuel. All that said total out put of all the nuclear power plants will meet under 10 per cent of Indias energy needs at BEST.
India has second largest reserves of thorium in the world. India needs to create a fully funded project even with IITs involved to make this happen.

Please don't go by what this dreadful commie has written. He is dead against the deal for all the wrong reasons. These people are the biggest anti nationals and they wouldn't mind us crumble before China since they take all their orders from the last bastion of communism. Remember communism thrives in the dungeons of poverty. China is very smart since it professes communism but practices an open market philosophy.

oh the indian Left is smart too, the only difference from China is that our commies practice open market philisophy for businesses run by there party. They follow hire and fire policy for there own television channels down south, another thing that they want stringent labor laws elsewhere.

Nonsense.First try to read something about the deadly clauses in the Hyde Act, before you talk of 'commies' etc, such name callings and diversion of real issues are now all too familiar.

Why people are getting irritated here? There are troubles ahead for this deal. And if you run away from trouble, it will chase you. This exactly what the PM did. He shied away in the parliament to discuss this issue of National importance. Instead he went on winning a trust with cash-for-votes. This means he is still hiding something.

The deal will increase the nuclear power share of india from 3% to 6% in the next 14 years. Thats it!

But in turn, India is trying to become a US base to take control over APAC and Russia. Nuclear deal is first step towards it.

Public opinion is 50:50 for this deal. Though it will speed our march towards N fuel.
Prioritywise, we need discipline in public life, control on population and providing employment to everyone.

Currently Nuclear power is 2.9% of total power produced in India.

Id this deal is signed and everything goes perfectly fine (a remote dream), the nuclear share of total power producced by India will be 6% by 2022 AD, ie 13 years from now.

This was a fore gone conclusion that US is afraid of Chain,s agrresive policies and its equally well planed diplomacy Unfortuantesly our country,s heads hve become bankcrupt with diplomacy and are busy in retaining the vote banks and power by acting on remote conrol yes masters What a bad state of affair to a country that has got rich hertiate and scientific therories of Vedic period Even now it is not very late that congress should openly come out with joining hands with BJP which has still wise personality dedicated to National importance like Mr Narendra Modi Vajapeyee Arun Jaitely etc and teach an all time lesson to sundry SP BSP JDS etc who are power hungrey without ani other aims of national spirit Unedudcated leaders are leading these parties As CJ of apex court has stated in media even God may be reluctant to Save this country from the stoogs of political Gooddasim
